**BACKGROUND**

United Bible Societies (UBS) is a global faith-based not for profit organisation. Our mission is to make the Bible available and accessible to everyone who wants it, and to help people engage with its message in meaningful and relevant ways. The UBS Global
Mission Team serves the Fellowship of about 150 Bible Societies working in more than
200 countries and territories. As part of the churches’ call to social justice and our holistic ministry strategy, the UBS Fellowship is also engaged in institutional partnerships for development programs in collaboration with local churches and other civil society organizations. Current development programs are implemented by Bible
Societies in sub-Saharan Africa and focus on positive youth development, adult literacy, gender-based violence, and trauma healing and reconciliation.

**JOB SUMMARY**
In response to an expanding institutional program portfolio, we are looking for a qualified and experienced person to follow up and ensure quality and consistency in implementation, monitoring and evaluation, capacity building, and reporting to donor institutions according to agreements and expectations. You will work closely with colleagues from Bible Societies in donor countries who share similar roles and responsibilities vis-à-vis donor institutions, as well as colleagues from Bible Societies in sub-Saharan Africa who are ultimately responsible for implementation and reporting.
As an Institutional Program Manager in the UBS Fellowship, you will also assess and develop new potential institutional partnerships in collaboration with national Bible
Societies.

**ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

1. To manage the existing programs by UBS and Bible Societies with funding from institutional donors such as Digni and the Norwegian Agency for Development
Cooperation (Norad), the Swedish International Development Cooperation
Agency (Sida), the Finnish MFA, and others. Specifically, to: a. Provide quality assurance of partners’ narrative reports, results frameworks, and financial management to Digni/Norad in collaboration with the Norwegian Bible Society. To review and approve ISP Project
Proposals on behalf of UBSA, in order to validate that projects are well designed and are consistent with Mission, Vision and Values of UBS and the objectives of the ISP. b. Follow-up project partners to ensure that activities are implemented according to plans and budgets and, if necessary, help partners adjust plans and budgets in dialogue and agreement with the Norwegian Bible
Society and Digni. c. Undertake project visits to observe activities, provide follow-up and training for staff and volunteers, and to check/assess different aspects of project
Secretaries and other senior leaders. g. Participate in relevant digital/physical meetings and workshops with Digni together with colleagues from the Norwegian Bible Society.

3. To assess and develop potential new institutional partnerships in collaboration with colleagues from UBS-GMT and Bible Societies.

4. To assist the ISP Team with reviews of other projects and strategies for relevant projects and programmes.

5. To contribute to the continuous improvement of ISP systems and processes, adapting to the changing needs of Bible Societies.

6. To participate in the UBS Reputation Management system, ensuring appropriate communication of breaches of standards or potential risks in the Bible Societies with which contacts are maintained.

7. Any other relevant task as requested by the team leader.

**PERSONAL QUALITIES AND COMPETENCIES**

**Essential Experiences and Skills**
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., sociology, political science, international relations, development, organizational management, finance etc.)
- At least three years of experience in program management with institutional funding, or similar experience relevant to the position’s role and responsibilities, ideally with churches and/or other faith-based organizations.
- Good knowledge of the trends in international development cooperation and the priorities of key donors including governments, NGOs, and IGOs (UN agencies,
EU, AU etc.).
- Good knowledge of political, social, religious, and cultural dynamics of countries and societies in sub-Saharan Africa.
- Able to work independently and efficiently to meet strict deadlines.
- Fluency in English, both written and oral, and a demonstrated ability to disseminate and communicate information in a technical language.
- Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and flexibility.
