The main purpose of this position is to lead the fixed asset function on behalf of the Corporate Services Department (CSD), for the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) to ensure effective management of assets throughout the asset life cycle.
Detailed Description
Develop and manage the implementation of fixed asset management guidelines, processes, standard operating procedures and tools.
- Provide input for the fixed asset management strategy and develop operational plans for the function.
- Plan and manage the delivery of outputs of the fixed asset function, that is, fixed asset planning, work in progress coordination (capitalisation of assets) and fixed asset administration.
- Manage the performance and development of the team.
- Analyse data, identify trends ( usefulness) across the organisation and provide insights and appropriate recommendations to senior management.
- Compile reports for senior management on the status of the fixed assets to facilitate decision-making.
- Plan and manage asset verification process to ensure that assets are accounted for at fair value.
- Ensure adherence to relevant accounting standards, that is, International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) and applicable Tax Acts for all entries in the fixed asset register.
- Identify, manage and mitigate risks associated with fixed asset management.
- Compile and manage the fixed asset budget and ensure standard procurement practices and expenditure within prescribed limits.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders (service providers) to ensure optimal service delivery to client departments.
Job Requirements
a Bachelor’s degree (NQF 7) in Commerce or an equivalent qualification ; and
- seven years’ experience within the fixed asset management environment, with a solid (three to five years) people management track record.
