This position will be responsible for providing Fire and Emergency Services, utilizing resources to accomplish operational requirements, and will report to the assigned Crew Chief or Station Captain. The additional duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

**Qualifications**:

- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Fire service certifications must be either DoD, IFSAC, or ProBoard.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Firefighter is required.
- A minimum of Firefighter I & II, Airport Firefighter (ARFF), Driver Operator Pumper, Hazmat Operations, and Awareness certification.
- A Valid CPR and EMR certification is required.
- Valid Driver License from country of origin.
- English proficiency rating by TOEFL or IELTS for Writing, Conversation, and Comprehension.

**Preferred**:

- DOD, IFSAC or ProBoard Apparatus Driver, Mobile Water Supply, ARFF vehicles
- Prior work experience in managing fire services in austere environments is highly desired.
- 2- and 4-year degrees are strongly preferred.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Operates firefighting equipment such as pumps, foam generators, boom, and ground sweep nozzles to extinguish fires.
- Must be knowledgeable in auto extrication operations and victim/patient care.
- Performs daily PM inspection of vehicles and equipment, and ensures all equipment is fully operational.
- Uses a variety of special protective gear in situations where poisonous gases, radioactive materials, and hazardous biological products are involved.
- Performs daily PM inspection of vehicles and equipment, and ensures all equipment is in operable condition.
- Participates in fire drills as scheduled.
- Attends training as required.
- Perform other duties as required.

**Physical Requirements**:
Standing 1-6 hrs. Daily

Walking 1-5 hrs. Daily

Sitting 1-8 hrs. Daily

Pulling and Pushing 1-4 hrs. Daily

Reaching Overhead 1-3 hrs. Daily

Bending/Stooping 1-6 hrs. Daily

Kneeling 1-3 hrs. Daily

Climbing in and out of truck 1-25 times Daily

Equipment Operations/Forklift

Equipment Operations/Pallet Jack

Lifting 1-25 lbs., 25 - 45 lbs.

Use of hands and fingers

Use of hand tools

**Safety (Personal Protection) Requirements**:
May require hard hat, safety goggles, safety shoes, ear protection, Hard toed safety shoes or boots, safety glasses or goggles, gloves, etc (as required by task)

**Status**:
Non-Exempt

**Salary Range**:
$12K-$25K yearly BOE ($ or £)

**Other Duties**:

- US Citizenship is not required.
- Excellent oral and communication skills in English are required.
- Good computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel) are required.
- Must be able to pass a background screening and provide an acceptable vetting (police) certificate.
- Must be able to pass annual physical fitness exam in accordance with your position.
- Must be able to interface with all levels of personnel in a diverse, multi-cultural, team-oriented environment.
- This position is located on the remote island of Ascension with no family accommodations available.
