The role holder will be responsible for leading the MA team to deliver timely and accurate management reporting and business insights to the Bryte Leadership team and relevant Group Reporting.

Key Tasks & Accountabilities
- Compile a project plan to ensure that deadlines are met
- Facilitate group management reporting requirements - own the president’s report
- Facilitate the completion of the following:

- Monthly Management pack results (actual vs plan vs prior year vs forecast)
- Production report variance analysis
- Expense report variance analysis
- Distribution channel results
- Project expense reporting and capitalisation
- Expense saving reporting
- Binder fee reporting
- Ensure audit queries are resolved timeously
- Performance management oversight across entire group BAG, BIC, Botswana, Life, and all subsidiaries

Participate meaningfully in the development of Bryte budgets (including subsidiaries) and monitoring actual performance against budget including variance analysis, corrective action, and re-forecasting
- Submissions prepared accurately and submitted in a timely fashion
- Participate and give input to the annual planning process
- Participate and give input to the quarterly forecasting process
- Active participant in strategy and initiative meetings etc.
- Monthly management pack (variance reporting) prepared accurately and in a timely fashion
- Quality data produced and communicated regularly

Preparation of presentations to internal & external parties such as regulators, rating agencies, Board of Directors, Senior leadership teams etc.
- Preparation of:

- Board packs
- Audit committee packs
- Senior leadership team packs
- Business unit review packs in conjunction with the business partnering team
- Identify manual interventions required and ensure they are actioned
- Governance framework in place to ensure that management reports reconcile to financial system and trial balances

Meaningful participation and lead as appropriate projects such as Graduate program in Finance, learning and development in finance, due diligences, control & governance committees covering reinsurance, reserving and capital management

Ad hoc projects to be managed as and when required
- Graduate program is maintained, and guidance provided
- Drive high performance culture through continual learning and development - facilitate the learning with finance program
- Actively participate in company-wide strategic events such as due diligences of new business opportunities
- Participate meaningfully at Reinsurance Forum, Capital Forum and Quarterly reserve reviews

Effective people management and team leadership
- Lead by example in living the guiding principles
- Be an active part of corrective action to ensure those correcting fully understand errors and consequences
- Continually strive to up-skill and motivate staff through effective leadership, mentoring, coaching, performance improvement and the creation and implementation of individual development plans
- Communicate effectively, building and maintaining relationships
- Ensure consistent compliance to company policies and procedures, corporate governance, and relevant legislation
- Set direct reports quantitative and qualitative performance objectives and ensure individual performance objectives are in place and reviewed to meet organisational and individual needs
- Ensure bi-annual performance reviews take place
- With direct reports, identify poor performance and take corrective action

Ensure governance and control procedures in place to ensure that management accounts are in alignment with financial system trial balances
- Governance framework in place to ensure that management reports reconcile to financial system and trial balances

Qualifications & Experience
- Post Graduate Accounting or similar qualification and minimum 5 years’ experience in senior finance roles in the financial services industry, preferable in insurance.

Knowledge
- Extensive knowledge of the financial services industry
- Good understanding of General (Short term) Insurance business
- Fair knowledge of accounting principles
- Working knowledge of Finance systems / Data Warehousing / Business Intelligence
- Good understanding planning & forecasting methodologies

- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Experience in leading a team of professionals
- High degree of commerciality and business acumen Communication skills
