**Role summary**

The editor/content specialist role supports Learning Designers, the Online Unit Editor and Unit Quality Lead to produce online tertiary units that support OES’s premium positioning.

**Key responsibilities**:
**Editorial**
- Proof-reading units before production
- Contributing to the smooth running of QA process
- Maintaining quality standards for referencing resources in unit learning materials
- Ensuring resources are up to date and accessible
- Ensuring assessment details are correct and consistent across unit websites
- Ensuring assessment documents meet quality standards with appropriate supporting
- resources
- Contributing to the evolution of the editorial style guide and supporting resources

**Unit Development**
- Updating existing (‘rollover’) unit for delivery in upcoming teaching period
- Supporting Learning Designers in the development of new units and re-builds
- Supporting Learning Designers in the writing of usable, credible and cohesive content
- Supporting Learning Designers to source and reference materials appropriate to unit content,
- e.g. images, videos, articles etc.
- Ensuring that supporting materials (how-to-guides, eLA notes, assessment templates) are up-to-date and accurate

**Unit Support**
- Implementing global changes across units, e.g. template changes within Blackboard and via
- Adobe Dreamweaver (HTML), formatting in line with style guide
- Proficiency in and maintaining version control of files in Word, PowerPoint, PDF, HTML
- Maintaining shared file folders in Sharepoint
- Fixing technical issues on behalf of teaching staff as required

- Creation of meaningful, engaging and sustainable unit content
- Managing multiple tasks simultaneously in order to meet demanding timelines
- Working within a team with competing demands and often changing priorities
- Ensuring that the learning materials presented to students are of the highest possible quality
- and free of errors
- Proficiency in technical platforms, specifically the Blackboard Learning Management System
- and Adobe Dreamweaver
- Mastery of Academic referencing styles (APA, Harvard, AGL)

**What does success look like?**
- Learning Design team are able to access required materials when they are needed, and can use
- their time efficiently
- Units are ready for delivery on time
- Minimal student complaints arising from errors in published online materials

**Requirements**:
**Previous experience in a fast paced administrative role with excellence in**:

- Experience as a proof-reader or editor
- Experience implementing house style guide
- Experience in structural editing and production of web based content
- Exceptional spelling, grammar and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience in HTML
- Track record of producing quality outputs to tight timelines
- High level personal organisational skills and the ability to work autonomously
- A passion for clear, user friendly digital content
- Demonstrated capability to be a co-operative team member and build positive working relationships
