**Job Advert Summary**:
**PURPOSE**:

- Developing strategy monitoring and insights capability for Exxaro: Drive and lead the oversight and transparency of strategy implementation across the entire organization, taking ownership of monitoring and creating visibility of strategy execution together with the Chief Strategy Officer. Oversee utilization of data and insights to identify areas where strategic objectives are at risk and ensure intervention from responsible functional leaders to mitigate risks. Ensure that strategy execution and its key performance indicators (KPIs) are aligned with Exxaro’s long-term strategy objectives for coal, energy, and minerals.
- Foresight and benchmarking: Overseer the process of providing input into the strategy through foresight and benchmarking, conducting research on local and international landscape on coal, energy, and critical minerals.
- Provide critical insights into strategy formulation and development process: Serve as critical insight input into the Exxaro strategy formulation and development process. Through research and working with various advisors (local and international) on coal, energy and critical minerals.
- Leverage strategic foresight and emergent trend analysis: Provide critical strategy information impacting the strategy formulation and development process of Exxaro’s overarching strategic direction whilst informing decision making through data analytics and market analysis of our internal performance versus the market.
- Develop Exxaro-wide strategy action tracker: Take ownership of developing Exxaro-wide strategy action tracker through collaboration and alignment among various departments, serving as a crucial link between strategy development/planning and execution. Foster a culture of bias for action and accountability, ensuring that everyone contributes to the company's strategy success. Take charge of the process of Benchmarking Exxaro's systems, processes, and talent, utilizing insights to build strategic resilience with functional leaders.
- Execution Support: Drive the process of actively partnering with functional leaders to transform the strategy into measurable metrics and actionable initiatives. Work with functions to develop group-wide strategy action tracking systems for all strategy programs and initiatives, ensuring progress is tracked and aligned with strategic goals.

**MAJOR CHALLENGES**:

- Developing strategy tracking tools.
- Developing measures for strategy effectiveness for SG & I. Creating a system that will integrate Exxaro’s value chain.
- Interdepartmental Coordination of strategy initiatives progress.
- Addressing resistance to change and conflicting priorities within various stakeholders while ensuring alignment with the corporate strategy.
- Overcoming resource constraints and misallocation that could impede timely execution of key strategies.
- Adapting to rapid changes, necessitating constant and agile adjustment of strategic plans.
- Reliability and availability of data to provide strategy insights or monitor strategic progress, demonstrating effectiveness and value delivery towards Exxaro's strategy objectives.
- Accessing latest global benchmarks and developments on coal, energy, and minerals.
- Benchmarking Exxaro against the market.

**Minimum Requirements**:
**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- B Eng (Relevant) (Essential/Minimum or)
- BSc Engineering (Relevant) (Essential/Minimum or)
- BCom (Relevant) (Essential/Minimum)
- Master of Business Administration (Recommended/Desirable or)
- Master of Administration Economics (Recommended/Desirable)
- Data Science Advanced Level Courses (Recommended/Desirable)
- Advanced Management Programme (Recommended/Desirable)

**EXPERIENCE**:
A minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience in strategic planning/research, business development, mining, businesses improvement, consulting, data science or related fields, in industry. A proven track record in developing and implementing successful strategic initiatives. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically. Scenario analysis and strategic monitoring capability. Experience with using big data analytics to formulate insights and inform strategic action. Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with strong EQ and capabilities to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams. Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex strategic concepts to diverse stakeholders. Understanding of the business value chain with strong financial acumen (Essential/Minimum) Senior Management
