Payroll Administrator

My client in Umhlanga is currently looking for a Payroll Administrator in the Finance Department. The position reports to the **Payroll Supervisor**.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for processing all payroll related information and transactions to ensure that all employees are paid (salary and wages) accurately and on time.
**Key performance areas**
- Responsible for the preparation and processing of the payroll in accordance with Group policies, processes and procedures using the appropriate IT payroll systems
- Ensure compliance to specific Country legislation and requirements
- Prepare relevant payroll files for payment of salaries and wages
- Process all payroll related transactions including overtime payments, advances, allowances, benefits, and leave
- Assist the Supervisor with day-to-day payroll task planning and special projects
- Assist the Supervisor with capturing and responding to payroll queries.
- Assist with the gathering of supporting data and information for audits, payroll related reconciliations, and interfaces.
- Handle payroll requests and escalate as required
- Drive coordination between payroll and relevant functions (i.e., HR, Kronos, Canepro, etc.) to ensure proper flow andmaintenance of employee data
- Prepare month-end journals, recons, and payroll related reporting e.g., expense claims, overtime, leave balances, head count,and month end reports
- Create GL interfaces for head office and entity
- Complete remittance and submit to relevant stakeholder (i.e., pension fund remittances)
- Process all petty cash payments
- Create monthly journals for WCA provision and ensure updates and submission of coida return of earnings forms and paymentsare completed
- Ad hoc payroll duties as requested by the Payroll Manager
- Securely manage and store all authorized change management documents
- Develop and maintain favourable stakeholder relationships internally (. i.e., HR), and externally (i.e., relating to statutorypayments to Government entities (i.e., maintenance order, IT88)
- Identify matters that require special attention and communicate or escalate as required and appropriate
- Contribute to the development of a positive team culture.

**Minimum specifications / requirement areas**
- Appropriate 3-year tertiary diploma or degree
- Minimum 2 years’ payroll administrator experience
- Intermediate level of Excel competence
- Skilled in relevant payroll software packages
- Ability to work in pressured and deadline-driven operating environment
- Ability to mutli-task across various activities and information sources
- Detail-orientated with the technical aptitude and ability to perform tasks accurately and comprehensively
- Knowledge of payroll tax and bargaining council legislation
