The New loveLife Trust is youth leadership development NGO that campaigns with nationwide community level outreach and supports programmes that promote socio-economic and healthy, HIV-free living among young South Africans. loveLife has reached unprecedented scale in implementing cutting-edge comprehensive and combined social behaviour change programming face-to-face with adolescents.
The Trust is looking for a Head of Programmes & Operations to manage the Programmes Strategic development, planning, management and delivery of all loveLife programmes. The successful applicant will be required to fulfil the following functions with technical excellence
- Contribute directly to the overall organization strategy in terms of programme delivery frameworks, governance and interfaces with the other functional areas of the business.
- Provide overall strategic and technical leadership in the design, development, planning, budgeting, and implementation of the Programme Strategy
- Provide strategic leadership, programme integration and operational management, in line with the organisation’s strategy
- Create and implement best practice programme management vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance
- Lead programme integration, creating a one programme approach and team culture for high impact
- Provide thought leadership internally and externally on LoveLife’s approach and value-add
- Create and manage programme plan gateways, functional milestones and deliverables, managing constraints to ensure delivery to programme timing and budget with maximum effectiveness to achieve good customer relationships that will ultimately maximise long term returns.
- Ensuring the loveLife strategy is effectively implemented in provinces
- Ensuring effective management of programme implementation, management and monitoring in provinces;
- Oversee the coordination and administration of all aspects of loveLife programmes including planning, organising, staffing,
- Initiate and develop creative and innovative programme management processes, to meet the organisation’s objectives and operational needs in terms of value, quality and delivery targets
- Initiate, coordinate and lead all programme activities,
- Building and developing an approach to programme quality, knowledge production and dissemination that will ensure the sharing of programme knowledge across the organisation
- Oversee the development of programme and project improvement plans, to ensure effective and timely implementation of the projects and programmes
- Together with the other members of the Programmes team, agree annual priorities for programmes work, in support of the strategy, and develop and monitor annual work plans
- Develop and maintain tools, approaches and/or resources to support the implementation and management of programmes
- Ensure implementation of Results Based Monitoring and Evaluation and Quality standards across all programmes
- Ensure progress is monitored, risks identified and appropriate mitigation against non-delivery is invoked.
- Championing the innovative ways of working
- Represent LoveLife in key external platforms and the media
- Manage relationships with various stakeholders
- Oversee, direct and ensure coordination of external programme engagements
- Ensuring good levels of stakeholder engagement in programming through marketing, reporting and regular feedbacks Lead, manage and develop their team in its contribution to the achievement of the department’s objectives and provide clear direction and support in the development and delivery of its products.
- Work with business stakeholders on identifying, validating and implementing concepts, define guidelines for stakeholder management and communication, and align project outcomes with overall business and key stakeholder requirements.
- Contribute to LoveLife’s overall impact through active participation in the various relevant forums, platforms and initiatives
- Providing high quality leadership and support to Programme Managers and implementers
- Manage the programme team to deliver on the programme strategy,
- Support from HR, manage the life cycle of individuals within the team from pre-recruitment to exit, including performance management processes, disciplinary matters etc.
- Provide support to the capacity building planning for programme positions
- Ensure an efficient and relevant staffing structure and lead structural change processes when necessary
- Build a high-performance culture among the programmes team
- Working closely with the Business Development team, identify opportunities for funding to ensure the financial sustainability of the LoveLife programmes
- Oversee the partner portfolio, with specific reference to the identification of strategic partners, and building and maintaining these relationships
