Execute against key Corporate Affairs priorities for Southern Africa, consistent with Mars Multisales and Segment CA strategies and platforms

Focus on protecting our license to operate, strengthening our corporate reputation both internally and externally and contributing to the One Mars agenda

Ensure connectivity of CA to business leaders, including providing leaders with insights and tools to achieve business strategies and goals, and keep associates engaged around our Purpose and Five Principles.

**What are we looking for?**:

- Relevant University or Bachelor degree
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in CA, Communications, Public Affairs, journalism or similar experience
- Ability to manage a diverse and broad range of issues and projects simultaneously.
- Ability to influence without authority. Skilled in shaping and driving dialogue by building “buy in”, must have the presence and stature to influence, establish credibility and trust with peers, senior leaders and external stakeholders.
- High level of autonomy and empowerment.
- Strong strategic and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications and presentation skills
- Experience in public relations, public affairs and reputation management.
- Previous experience/ responsibilities should include: reputation/ corporate identity management; media strategy & management; issues/ crisis management; internal communications; government relations; overall stakeholder management.
- Fluency in English and ideally one or more African language.

**What will be your key responsibilities?**:
**Contributes to the definition of the CA objectives, strategies and plans.**
- Contributes to the overall CA objectives, strategies and plans and monitoring the progress in achieving that strategy.

**Increases our corporate reputation through enhanced external visibility**
- Contributes to the development of the corporate reputation plan articulating roles, responsibilities and priorities at market level. Provides insights & recommendations from market perspective. Enables unit leaders to contribute to increasing our reputation
- Leverages key corporate and segment messages and positions (Petcare, MW & Food) consistently and positively as part of a communications plan for the unit that helps drive share of voice within Multisales.
- Engages with influential external stakeholders, including trade associations, governments/ regulators, non-governmental organizations, academia, key opinion formers and communities as per geographical split within the CA team
- Develops media and PR strategy for the unit. Supports execution across the markets. Ensures media training of all relevant leaders to increase our external visibility by means of visible leadership.
- Continuously brings external perspective to the Leadership team of the Southern African unit.
- Ensures global and regional (social) media strategies are adhered to in the local unit.

**Inform and inspire our Associates**
- Engages unit Associates in our Purpose, Five Principles, and corporate signature programs (Mars Ambassador Program MAP, support local champion for Mars Volunteer Program MVP, Principles in Action communication)
- Plays a critical role in the management of change communication in Multisales.

**Protects our corporate reputation**
- Ensures the local market is always prepared for crisis and issues through appropriate CALM & media trainings, monitoring and response tools.
- In times of issues and crisis, leads at unit level all CA responsibilities in the Crisis Management Team (internal and external stakeholder management such as local authorities, media, Associates), ensuring the right means of escalation to the regional teams.
- Identifies local unit political & PA issues important to Mars and the segments in order to avoid any surprises.
- Stakeholder mapping
- Together with the external agencies manages systems to provide an early warning and tracking of issues that may impact the unit’s business.
- Contributes to the development and executes (together with LT) trade association strategy.
- Supports the Supply Director in the role of South African Business Continuity Administrator.

**Transform Consumer Care**
- Enable Consumer Care to create mutual value through every conversation with our billions of consumers and leverage their voice.
- Manage, support and measure the external consumer care service provider.
- Provide the business with key consumer insights and reports on a quarterly basis.

**Facilitates One Mars agenda**
- Supports the Regional CA Director as CA One Mars lead for Southern Africa.
