**ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT PRACTITIONER**
**Requirements**:
- Master’s Degree in Education/Higher Education/Psychology
- At least 5 (five) years in teaching and learning related activities in Higher Education
- (Two of the afore mentioned five years, should be in student and/or staff development _
- in a Higher Education environment)_
- Conducted workshops or shared papers on Higher Education related topics
- Knowledge of and experience in the blended learning approach to teaching and
learning
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Recognition/Acknowledgement in Higher Education teaching and learning related
activities
- Experience in academic staff development programmes would be an added advantage
**Key performance areas
- Facilitate implementation of the University's learning and teaching policies and
strategies in campus Faculties
- Support and guide faculties on curriculum transformation
- Plan and coordinate the Vice Chancellor’s Teaching Excellence Awards in Campus
- Plan and coordinate with HR Orientation and Induction Programmes for new lecturers,
including other staff retention strategies
- Ensure accountability of learning and teaching in the Faculties, including monitoring
and evaluating the implementation of the Faculty’s teaching and learning development
plans
- Promote research into teaching practices within the University including researching
student needs and innovative learning and teaching practices
- Ensure that development opportunities for academic staff are available in relation to
enhancing the effectiveness of learning and teaching
- Facilitate and disseminate innovative pedagogical practices in the Faculties, including
using emerging technologies in learning and teaching
- Undertake other activities as determined in consultation with CAE management
- Hold one-on-one consultation sessions with lecturers, advising on innovative teaching
strategies
