The University has a well-established culture of institutional (strategic) planning, and the monitoring of institutional performance in relation to the strategic imperatives of the University forms an integral part of the implementation of the University's strategy. At UWC, strategy formulation is the result of a very consultative process, implementation happens across executive lines and faculties, and is supported by a range of grant-funded and other initiatives.

The position is directly involved in the strategy formulation processes and is responsible to coordinate and align complex change projects across executive portfolios, forge strategic partnerships with internal and external parties, and facilitate effective implementation of identified strategic projects. The University seeks to appoint a dynamic individual who can support the development of strategic and project plans, coordinate and support the effective implementation of a range of initiatives and manage and maintain strategic communication with internal and external role-players.

**Reporting to the Institutional Planner, the successful applicant will be responsible for the following areas**:

- Assist in managing robust institutional planning processes that identify long-term goals and objectives and facilitate the development of supporting strategies
- Interact with senior management to coordinate, integrate and report on the planning and implementation of strategic initiatives
- Manage the strategic alignment and integration of grant proposals, and coordinate and oversee the implementation, monitoring and reporting of identified grants
- Monitor and track the effectiveness of strategy and project implementation
- Build partnerships and manage engagements with key internal and external stakeholders
- Conduct research and data analysis and keep abreast of key national and local issues impacting the University's strategic aspirations and positioning.

**Minimum Requirements**

**Minimum Requirements** (Qualification and Experience)
- A minimum of 8 years' relevant management experience, preferably in a higher education environment.
- An in-depth understanding of the South African public Higher Education sector and the context within which universities operate.
- Proven experience in project management and the monitoring and reporting of implementation progress to funding agencies.

**Required competencies** (skills, knowledge and behavioural attributes):

- Experience in grant coordination, financial management, implementation monitoring and reporting
- Research and analytical skills
- Excellent planning and execution skills
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills in English
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Experience in establishing relationships and sustaining partnerships
