**DIRECTOR
**PEROMNES GRADE: 05
The Director: CAE reports to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Teaching and Learning and

is responsible for all academic development and academic support functions at the

University. The Director is responsible for leadership of the Centre in three main areas,

viz. Teaching and Learning Support, Academic Staff Development and Student.

**Requirements**:

- A relevant doctoral degree.
- Academic standing at Professorship level, will serve as a strong

recommendation.
- Experience in teaching, academic development and support.
- A minimum of five years management experience at Higher Education level.
- Understanding of Higher Education debates around teaching and learning

development and student support.
- Exposure to and understanding of project management approach in

operationalizing interventions will also serve as an added advantage.

**Responsibilities**:

- Coordinate the National Benchmark Test.
- Offer support to the office of the Registrar and Executive Deans for
- Manage the evaluation of Learning and Teaching.
- Manage the Reading and Writing Centre.
- Organise the Supplemental Instruction (SI) programme.
- Promote the scholarship to Teaching and Learning.
- Conceptualise and coordinate activities that promote student academic

excellence,

Improved student referral and graduate throughput.
- Manage the Student referral and support system.
- Manage the Student Mentorship Programme
- Manage Teaching and Learning Development at both the undergraduate and

postgraduate levels.
- Co-ordinate New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP).
- Coordinate and promote staff Teaching and Learning Excellence Awards.
- Lead and coordinate a team of Academic developers.
