**VACANCY: TEAM LEADER TRANSPORT**

**PRIME PURPOSE OF THE POSITION**

Contour Logistics is recruiting an experienced Team Leader: Transport to join our dynamic team.
The successful incumbent will effectively manage, motivate, and coordinate the Transport Support Unit Team (TSU) in Cape Town. This position reports to the Operations Manager.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. Ensure the company transport strategy is implemented and executed.
2. Collaborate with other teams (i.e. Logistics, Finance) where necessary to meet business requirements, such as claims, queries etc.
3. Maintain and develop positive business relationships with service providers’ key personnel involved in the transport activity.
4. Monitor and manage administrative processes including KPIs.
5. Ensure that info captured by team members on the system is complete, accurate ad timeous.
6. Problem-solving where the Transport Co-ordinators is not able to handle / manage this on their own.
7. Ensure even distribution of work amongst the Transport Co-ordinators and help them as and when needed.
8. Ensure that processes are put in place and documented in conjunction with the Operations Manager as and when required.
9. Ensure all cost deviations are recorded within required deadlines.
10. Ensure that the Transport Co-ordinators inform their clients (the Logistics Co-ordinators) with all information required to keep customers informed (i.e. ETA’s, cost deviations, plug ins, etc).
11. Negotiate ad hoc transport rates.
12. Support the team to source additional transport when required.
13. Resolve all queries from finance and the Logistic Co-ordinators timeously.
14. Prepare and distribute monthly rate updates to transporters.
15. Manage stock of temperature control devices held by transporters.
16. Quick check-ins with each team member individually at least once a week.
17. Leave planning and approval in conjunction with the Operations Manager
18. Team Performance appraisals in conjunction with the Operations Manager.
19. Ad hoc duties, as and when requested by the Operations Manager.

**COMPETENCIES / REQUIRED**:
1. Minimum of a Grade12/ Matric.
2. Experience in a similar industry will be advantageous.
3. Good product knowledge.
4. Basic shipping market knowledge.
5. Good knowledge and understanding of transport costs and depots.
6. Good knowledge and understanding of weight restrictions and calculations thereof.
7. Excellent understanding of cost chains.

8. Excellent time management.
9. Excellent communication skills - speaking & writing.
10. Excellent interpersonal skills.
11. Basic computer skills - focus on Excel.
12. Improve work methods and proactive problem solving.
13. Demonstrate initiative in solving repetitive problems / bottlenecks.
