The Marang Education Trust, in partnership with Maskew Miller Learning is focused on best practice as an approach to improving the quality of teaching, learning and school management in South Africa.

Our purpose is to contribute to the education community through direct provisioning of professional development and support and bursaries for public benefit in partnership with the Department of Basic Education (DBE).

The Trust is a SACE Accredited research and professional development and support organisation which is part of Pearson South Africa’s corporate social impact initiative.

**Purpose**

To facilitate personal, professional and organisation development by providing support to under-resourced schools and district officials. To provide strategic management support within the organisation.
- Have experience as a Head of Department, Deputy Principal or Principal in providing professional development and support within a school.
- Have knowledge and experience of workshop facilitation, mentorship and provision of classroom-based support.
- Understand/have knowledge of DBE policies related to leadership and management and curriculum delivery within a learner-centred framework.
- Have and interest in social emotional learning and inclusive education.
- Have experience in teaching Mathematics in InterSen, GET and/or FET phases.
- Demonstrate the ability to network and engage at various levels of the education ecosystem, especially with education district officials.
- Can demonstrate that you are action-orientated, self-driven, determined and committed to education and development.
- Can demonstrate that you are collaborative, take full accountability for your work and your actions.
- Can demonstrate that you are detail orientated, organised, systematic and a competent communicator.
- Can demonstrate that you are curious, open to learning new systems and keep yourself up to date with new ways of working in education

**Key Requirements**
- Valid Code 08 Driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle.
- English language competence in speaking, reading and writing.
- Proficiency in IsiZulu.

**Formal Education**:

- Teaching qualification (B.Ed. or PGCE).
- Honours or Master’s Degree in Education is a strong recommendation.

**Experience**:
Minimum of 5-10 years teaching experience.

Experience as Departmental Head, Deputy Principal or Principal.

**Skills**:

- Self-led, self-managed, self-evaluation and self-reflection.
- Strategic, can implement operational plans within agreed timeframes.
- Excellent workshop design and facilitation.
- Mindful coaching and mentoring.
- Classroom-based support (team-teaching, demonstration lessons, observation and feedback, learner-centred teaching and learning)
- Basic research skills:

- Engage and Implement monitoring and evaluation processes
- Data collection (surveys, interviews, focus groups, document analysis, observation)
- Data capturing (qualitative and quantitative data)
- Report writing
- Collaboration and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Effective Administration.
- Efficient time management, organising and prioritisation of tasks.
- Excellent Communication skills (verbal and written).
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
