**Job Advert Summary**:
The CCBR seeks to appoint suitably qualified persons to take on the responsibilities of Team Leader for research projects implemented at the Sweetwaters office.
The Team Leader will report to a designated project and work closely with the research study team and other site support staff to successfully implement this function. There is six (6) position offered on a 24-month term contract.

- A relevant undergraduate degree;
- 3-4 year experience in either data collection, fieldwork or community work and at least 1 years’ experience in training, supervision, coordinating or leading teams in research;
- Fluency in English and Zulu;
- Demonstrated computer literacy;
- Ability to use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Good interpersonal, organisational and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to adhere to strict deadlines;
- Relevant knowledge of HIV/AIDS;
- Willing and able to be based (nights-outs) in various parts of KwaZulu-Natal province;
- Willingness to work after hours and over weekends and in rural communities;
- Unendorsed driver’s license, active driver and comfort with driving different sized vehicles;
- Ability to work accurately, attention to detail, independently and in a team;

- Familiar with the functioning of a smartphone (able to install and uninstall apps)
- Technologically savvy.
**Preference will be given to applicants with**:
- Masters/Honours degree;
- Previous research experience, preferably clinical trial research experience;
- Previous community or home-based intervention or data collection experience;
- Driver’s license of longer than 12 months;
- Knowledge of good clinical practice procedures;
- Exposure to universal safety precautions, biological specimen collection and transit management;
- Previous field research experience in the HIV/AIDS, health or the social sciences;
- Familiar with the processes of PHC and CHCs clinics and patient files;
- GCP certification;
- REDCap experience.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Key responsibilities**:
- Ensuring a well-developed and functioning team who can effectively and efficiently deliver team targets;
- Working with team members (planning, scheduling, discipline and performance) to achieve agreed outcomes;
- Ensuring effective and efficient delivery of team outputs and targets;
- Establishing and maintaining good working relationships in the project and at the Sweetwaters office;
- Conducting quality assurance and quality control of data collection activities;
- Overseeing and managing project resources (i.e., vehicles, tablets, cellphones, biological specimens/collection tools) in the field;
- Working with the research team to make and implement project related decisions;
- Working closely with the Community Programmes and Stakeholder Relations unit to implement strategies for engaging with communities and households;
- Scheduling and ensuring implementation of fieldwork visits for participant recruitment and data collection;
- Providing regular supervision and support for the team members;
- Working closely with data team in ensuring accurate allocation and submission of field forms and data;
- Participate in the development and refinement of the data collection process;
- Overseeing referrals to appropriate services in the communities;
- Overseeing and performing the tracking and tracing of patients for study activities;
- Maintaining and overseeing regular documentation and records of all daily activities;
- Assisting the project manager in achieving all stipulated QA/QC targets;
- Ensuring accurate record keeping of participant information;
- Overseeing and performing the collection of data and completion of research field forms and/or any other survey activities;
- Documenting patients care status
- Comfortable asking personal questions to collect data from participants
- Overseeing and performing the recruiting and screening of patients according to eligibility; criteria to determine participation in the study;
- Working with the community programmes and stakeholder relations unit to conduct; community preparation and mobilisation activities;
- Developing and maintaining good working relationships with local community stakeholders;
- Ensuring bio-hazardous waste is disposed of according to waste management guidelines;
- Overseeing and performing the collecting of data from patient files within PHC clinics and CHCs;
- Carrying out any other activities deemed necessary for the effective and productive functioning of the team.
