As a Product Analyst you will work hand-in-hand with the Product Development Team, Systems Architects, Systems Development, Business Analysts and Business operations teams to steer and guide the process of developing new and improved products from conception to launch. Success in this role hinges on your technical aptitude, quantitative abilities, and business acumen.

**Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to**:

- Assist the Product Specialist, Senior Business Architect or Enterprise Architect to define the priority of work and ensure delivery of work within defined timeline and ensure implementation meets business objectives.
- Assist the Product specialist, and at times be the product lead of, cross functional development teams for a component of a new product or feature or of an entire small project, and contribute to new product or feature implementation.
- Work with various stakeholders including Actuarial, Systems Development, Business, Marketing, Graphics-and-usability experts to ensure great member experience in product or feature enhancements.
- Conduct root cause analysis and investigation of production defects to ensure that Discovery Life systems operate efficiently.
- Update and, at times document, product specifications for small projects relating to implementation of new or enhancements to existing products or features.
- Collaborate, negotiate and co-ordinate with various stakeholders to produce and sign off Product requirements documents to ensure product requirements are developed and improved.
- Ensure all products or features are designed to optimise self-servicing and are operationally efficient.
- Be aware of Life business, customer experience, digital and innovations in this field to act as a consultant to guide Life’s new product or feature experience and enhance Life’s current product suite to achieve strategic outcomes.
- Develop knowledge of Life’s product offering and assess the impact of new products or features to the greater Life business.
- Contribute to formal and informal research to assist in product or feature design and refinement.
- Review test packs for testing of business requirements.
- Report and provide regular updates on progress to stakeholders to manage delivery of Product initiatives.
- Adherence to the agreed Systems Development Life cycle (SDLC) and standards for Systems development and automation.
- Assist and at times, facilitate Joint Application Design (JAD) sessions with stakeholders and present solutions for new products or product enhancements.

**Education and Experience**

**Essential**:

- Matric
- Tertiary Education, preferably B Comm. (IS) or BSC (preferably in Information Systems or Actuarial Studies)

**Advantageous**:

- Minimum 1 to 2 years Product Analysis or Product Systems development experience within the Life Insurance Industry.
- IT or development training or certifications
