**Role Purpose and Description**

The Communications Officer supports the Marketing Manager in the operational management of the department, whilst being responsible for all communication activities, externally and internally, and ensuring that Raizcorp and its allies companies’ messaging is aligned to the Raizcorp strategy, as determined by the CEO, at all times.

**Key Responsibilities**

The Communications Officer’s key responsibilities include:

- Assisting in the development of communications strategy for various audiences.
- Producing and disseminating external communications to various stakeholders.
- May at times be requested to produce and disseminate internal communications to various stakeholders.
- Writing content and copy for:

- thought leadership articles,
- press releases,
- blog posts,
- newsletters,
- sales proposals,
- marketing collateral, etc.
- Developing and refining a social media marketing strategy with assistance of the Marketing Manager and ensure smooth execution and running thereof together with the Digital Communications Assistant.
- Working together with the Digital Communications Assistant to develop all content for execution of the Social Media Strategy for Raizcorp owned media.
- Assisting the Digital Communications Assistant in writing social media content for social media accounts and ad campaigns.
- Proof reading and editing content produced by various departments.
- Serve as additional quality check for all content produced.
- Uploading and management of Raizcorp and allied companies’ websites and portals, as well as other online content.
- Assisting in developing communications policies and procedures as and when required.
- Analyzing the effectiveness of external communications.
- Communicate and glean information from the Prosperator Managers.
- Proactively look for communicating worthy stories and content.
- Weekly updates on the status of various content to be produced.
- Completing any related tasks assigned and requested by the Marketing Manager.
- Liaising with suppliers and building relationships with them, for example PR/Comms and Digital Agencies.
- Proactively maintaining a good understanding of the printing process as well as relationships with suppliers (print, branding, online etc.).
- Working together with the Traffic and Production Coordinator and Raizcorp clients on events such as launches and expos.
- Taking photographs and video at different events for comms, coffee table books and marketing collateral as and when required.
- Timeously attending all internal marketing meetings.
- Acting as a journalist at Raizcorp events and sourcing information from Prosperator Managers for communication and other purposes.
- Assisting with Opal reporting as and when required.
- Timeously plan and produce the copy for all Tier 1 and Tier 2 coffee table books.
- Ensuring all content developed is saved, filed, catalogued and archived logically and correctly on the Raizcorp server at all times.

**Skills, Competencies & Minimum Criteria**
- Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Tertiary qualification (Degree/National Diploma) in Journalism or Corporate Communications or Publishing or PR essential
- 5 years relevant editing and writing/ journalism experience essential
- Proven track record in a broad range of communications activities, media, press releases, websites, publications, marketing, social media, events, etc.
- Excellent communication skills including research, interviewing, writing, editing/proofing, copywriting and presentation skills
- Experience in developing and executing innovative digital initiatives and campaigns across various social media platforms.
- Experience working with websites, including, producing content for the web and knowledge of content management systems.
- Experience working with e-communications, including preparing and sending eNewsletters.
- Excellent networking and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to liaise professionally with key strategic public and private stakeholders
- Ability to manage projects from start to completion, and liaise with suppliers
- Basic photography skills preferable, but not prerequisite
- MS Office - Intermediate level
- Understanding of social media analytics is advantageous
- Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks
- The Communications Officer will be required to be available for expos and show stands on weekends, public holidays and after hours as may be required from time-to-time.
