Our client within the Oil and Gas sector is looking for a Biodiversity Coordinator to join their team.
- Provide specialist advice in environmental and biodiversity matters
- Supports the Company and Contractors' staff on-site in understanding environmental management and biodiversity issues and their implications for the operations.
- Coordinate biodiversity monitoring and impact mitigation contractor activities
- Ensure that contractors act responsibly according to their contractual responsibilities.
- Be up to date with local perceptions on the company’s biodiversity performance and anticipate risks
- Build and establish relations with external stakeholders on Biodiversity preservation strategies

**Requirements**:

- University Qualification in Environmental Management or Natural Sciences
- Working knowledge of Marine Wildlife Management, Ecology, Zoology or Conservation Biology;
- 3-5 years of experience field or site-based experience in managing environment and biodiversity-related issues
- Fluency in English
- Good understanding and knowledge of the South African coastal and marine eco systems
- Practical experience of undertaking or participating in ESIAs is an added advantage.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to develop and maintain good relations with stakeholders including government authorities, local communities, industry, NGOs.
- Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Good Computer skills; report writing and analytical skills.
- Geomatic / GIS knowledge an advantage

**Job Types**: Full-time, Temp to perm
Contract length: 12 months
