An excellent opportunity has become available to join a leader in the Energy industry is looking for an Regional Operations Manager based in Bellville, Cape Town.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Attention to detail with high level of accuracy and quality assurance
- Ability to work within tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment
- Solutions driven with strong logical and systematic thinking
- Experience in general factory and with boilers would be highly advantageous

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensuring smooth operations and maintenance of the Outsourced Steam plants in the Cape Region
- Manage / supervise Company site staff, including boiler operators and technical support staff
- Prepare and maintain attendance records and submit to Company’s Wage Office
- Develop and implement shift patterns in accordance with operational requirements and in accordance with the LRA
- Arrange ad-hoc manning as required in the event of absenteeism or leave or other circumstances
- Ensure and maintain adequate training/capability of site staff
- Develop site staff with a view to expansion, growth and succession
- Operations and Maintenance
- Plan, manage and supervise contractors on site
- Ensure a reliable and continuous supply of steam to the customer
- Identify and capture all plant and equipment preventative / planned maintenance requirements and ensure the PMS is updated accordingly
- Manage the execution of maintenance work orders in a planned and timely fashion, taking customer requirements into account when applicable (e.g. Annual shutdowns)
- Ensure that unplanned and ad-hoc maintenance (e.g. breakdowns) is attended to without delay and with zero or minimum impact to the customer
- Ensure compliance with all legal requirements, with special attention to Pressure Equipment Regulations (PER)
- Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures of the steam plant and ancillary plant
- Identify, procure and manage inventory of critical spares, maintaining on site stock or available at short notice (as applicable)
- Maintain close contact with the National Operations Manager on operational issues
- Develop and maintain a preferred contractor/supplier list
- Manage fuel levels (coal / oil / other) and ensure continuous supply
- Monitor and manage and maintain fuel quality sampling analysis (especially in the case of coal) and supplier data
- Ensure compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental requirements
- Identify and implement opportunities for efficiency improvements, cost savings and other improvements
- Maintain the site aesthetics, cleanliness, housekeeping and safety aspects at the highest level
- 24hr availability to attend site to troubleshoot and rectify operational deviations, breakdowns, planned maintenance and contactors on site
- Analyse Low/No Steam incidents and operational deviations, prepare and submit incident reports with corrective actions
- Monitor and manage the operational parameters of the plant, including key performance ratios (e.g. Plant efficiency, steam / coal, CDS return, water usage, boiler water chemical residuals, etc
- Operational Admin
- Prepare and submit standard reports daily / weekly / monthly to the National Operations Manager
- Submit purchase requisitions to the National Operations Manager for all operational requirements
- Ensure adherence and compliance with Company’s standards and procedures as well as those of the customer
- Manage and maintain OPEX budgets
- Customer Relationship Management
- Maintain an excellent relationship between Company and its customers

- Assist from time to time with Company’s construction projects
- Collaborate with counterparts in other regions to ensure continuity and consistency of operations across the country
- Ad hoc tasks as requested from management
- Any such duties as required by the Company from time to time
