**Job Description**:

- The purpose of this role is to effectively define and execute the site-level Corporate Affairs & Sustainable Impact strategy for Venetia Mine, in line with the BU strategy, through the implementation of a comprehensive internal and external communications plan and a social performance strategy which encompasses stakeholder engagement, social and human rights impact and risk management and socio-economic development for the benefit of Venetia Mine employees, host communities and other external stakeholders.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Provide strategic advice on the implementation of De Beers Group Corporate Affairs & Sustainable Impact strategy at Venetia Mine.
- Develop and manage the execution of the internal and external communication strategy at Venetia Mine by working closely with the Corporate Communication Senior Manager.
- Develop a Crisis Communication Plan in support of the mine’s Crisis Management and Business Continuity Plans.
- Oversee the implementation of the Social Way 3.0 at Venetia Mine and support cross-functional alignment at site level on social performance issues to enable successful delivery of site-level plans and work with the OpCo team to unlock bottlenecks and mitigate risks that may hinder the implementation of Social Way 3.0.
- Ensure socio-economic development initiatives (Building Forever, SLP, SED, CSR, E&SD) are aligned to maximise benefit to host communities.
- Provide strategic advice on the implementation of Stakeholder Relations strategy, policies and plans by ensuring alignment with South African legislation and De Beers Group policies.
- Identify and secure strategic partners that will enable Venetia Mine to achieve its business, social performance and socio-economic development strategies.
- Create mutually beneficial relationships with local, regional and provincial governments, traditional leadership, political parties and influential community leaders.
- Manage compliance for Venetia Mine with focus on Social and Labour Plan, Mining Charter, Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment and Minimum Permitting Requirements.
- Qualifications
- Social science degree or related degree.
- A business management qualification would be an advantage.

**Role-specific knowledge and experience**:

- Extensive management experience of which at least 5 years should be in a extractives environment.
- Working with SA government, traditional communities and with complex community structures.
- Project management and monitoring and evaluation of large scale programs and projects.
- Policy development and program implementation with national footprint.
- Relevant experience in working in social performance management.
- Knowledge of the integrated risk management process (ORM).
- Knowledge of Social Impact Assessment.
- Knowledge of the Social Way framework.
- Driving license.
