Develop and implement integrated communications strategies and initiatives across paid, earned, shared, and owned channels to support the achievement of key business objectives, and to protect and improve the client’s reputation in the following sector: Education, Housing, and Energy and Power sectors.
Develop messaging for content pieces in line with client’s brief
Drive positive coverage across a broad range of media, including online, broadcast and print outlets.
Lead the content generation team to draft and edit written content, conduct quality media engagements, and handle crisis communications.
Develop and deliver reactive and proactive external media engagement
Support the development and delivery of social media content
Editing, proofread, collate amendments and secure approval of content from client stakeholders
Spot and exploit media opportunities for proactive positive content.
Ensure all assets like images, video, audio, etc are named and stored appropriately.
Provide advice and spot areas where more experienced advice will need to be offered.
Ensure interactions and media statements are logged correctly.
Liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders to support delivery of business outcomes, working collaboratively within own team and across the organisation.
Be a contact point on media communication, responding to any queries promptly and effectively.
Implement and manage a communications calendar and forward planning system.
Monitor media or social media channels and compile monitoring reports as required.
Be prepared to deal with unexpected issues which on occasion will require working beyond normal expected hours.
Manage your own work against plans and milestones and act promptly to ensure activity stays on track and outcomes are delivered.
Take part in the quality assurance of products and services.
Effectively contribute to news systems such as forward planning, media contact lists and other tasks to ensure the smooth running of the media relations campaigns.
Be aware of external insight / research / best practice and new ideas to secure media coverage
Assist with other communications tasks and projects as required.

**REQUIREMENTS**:
**This is mandatory**:
You must have at least 5- 10 years media relations working experience, with a strong network of journalist across business and politics in South Africa covering tiers: 1, 2 and 3 media. Your network must cover, Radio, TV, online and key print media.

**Qualifications**:
A qualification in Marketing and/or Communications
At least 10 years of work experience in a similar senior management position is a prerequisite.
High level of computer literacy (Microsoft word, PowerPoint, excel, Google Suite etc.)
Should have experience in designing and implementing effective marketing and communications strategies.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong working knowledge of various marketing tools and platforms, including social media platforms.
Well versed in identifying new target markets, delivering targeted campaigns and measuring the success of these campaigns
Experience in media relations and crisis management is important.
