**Duties**

Head of Department: Mathematics will lead and develop a strong department and oversee the planning, delivery and assessment of a rigorous and relevant academic programme to all Mathematics students. They will guide teachers and students whilst creating an encouraging learning environment which will stimulate and inspire. They will need:

- to deliver future focused education in which teachers and students are motivated, inspired and challenged
- to demonstrate strength of character, integrity and professionalism, at all times
- to develop and maintain constructive and ongoing partnerships with colleagues, parents, guardians and members of the community
- to communicate and collaborate with all members of the learning community in a positive, respectful and open-minded way

They will be accountable for the following specific areas of performance:

- Leading the Mathematics Department with vision and drive
- Academic Delivery and Programme Development
- Academic Assessment & Reporting
- Leadership and guidance of mathematics teachers to ensure standards are maintained
- Administration
- Health & Safety

**Qualifications & Experience**
- a Degree (NQF level 7) and PGCE or B. Education (Senior Phase or FET) with a specialization in Mathematics
- SACE certification and a police clearance are requirements
- Minimum of 8 years teaching experience
- Knowledge of IEB is an advantage
- Computer and digital literacy
