**_ Position Purpose:_**

To provide prudent management of litigation risk and support TPT managing legal and litigation risks, including that relating

to labour, construction, insurance & contract litigation. This includes the provision of specialised legal advisory services incl.

legal opinions and litigation as well as legal support to TPT Governance Structures and TPT Terminals.

**_ Position outputs:_**

1. Handling a broad range of litigation and pre-litigation matters and supporting the business transversally in assessing and

mitigating associated litigation risk.

2. Maintaining current and accurate litigation management records

3. Collaborate to fulfil various administrative and litigation-related responsibilities; and

4. Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

5. Provide hands-on advice and counsel to various internal clients to proactively address and mitigate potential risks.

6. Preparing training materials, publications, reports, or prepare presentations about legal work

7. Monitoring, summarizing, and analyzing case law, legislation, and administrative policy and practices.

8. Handle incoming legal processes and documents.

9. interviewing witnesses, gathering, reviewing and analyzing relevant

documents, and drafting responses to letters and prepare recommendations

10. Hands-on management of external legal counsel regarding strategy, proceedings, and billings.

11. Perform such other tasks and projects as may be required from time to time.

12. TPT legal representative on the following forums:
(a) TPT Governance Committees, including TPT Riskco where litigation, labour and construction legal matters are discussed;
(b) TPT HR Committees.

(c) Transnet Group Legal Committees.

**_ Qualifications & Experience:_**
- The applicant must have an LLB / B. Proc degree qualification.- The incumbent is required to be an admitted Attorney or Advocate
- At least 8-10 years’ legal professional experience of which 5 years are at a senior management level with a specialization

or fucus on complex Litigation, Labour and / or Construction Law matters- Exercises a high level of autonomy in handling assigned cases and transactional requests

External legal expertise may be engaged where required.

empowerment of staff and stakeholders
Proactively creating and using structures and opportunities for legal staff, as well as relevant stakeholders to be trained,
developed and empowered with regard to the legal principles and regulatory requirements, frameworks, structures,
processes and protocols that are applicable in rendering a professional legal support service to the company on an ongoing
basis.

Engagement with legal profession
Maintaining meaningful engagement with required professional bodies with a view to keeping up to date with important
relevant trends and events in the professional legal environment. It also involves remaining consistently compliant with the
requirements and directives regarding professional legal practice in the corporate sector.
