To provide leadership of the external communications function, including public relations media liaison and PR agency management, to promote Absa CIB and its strategic business objectives. This function will be fulfilled through the crafting, planning and timeous delivery of strategic integrated business communications solutions and interventions, with the purpose of protecting and enhancing the reputation of Absa CIB among its stakeholders. In consultation with the Head of Reputation Management and other internal stakeholders, develop an integrated communication strategy that encompasses effective external communications and reputation management.

**Job Description**:
Work with the central media team to foster constructive and positive relationships with the media

Facilitate the creation of a proactive media agenda for the business unit and its leadership team on a monthly basis by overseeing the creation of a media schedule comprising thought leadership articles, newsworthy announcements, and other material to be prepared around certain identified themes.

Raise the public profile of the business by maximizing the exposure of CIB’s sponsorships, corporate social investment projects and so on.

In consultation with business unit leadership, ensure that the communication strategy delivers messaging that is aligned with the Group’s business agenda and positioning.

Develop and maintain robust relationships with internal stakeholders

Use communication to help solve business problems and achieve organizational objectives in a credible and authoritative manner, based on a clear understanding and analysis of issues facing the business.

Accountability: Design and drive the CIB external communication strategy
- Design and drive the communications plan for relevant business units, including social media and other owned channels.
- Work closely with CIB Marketing as a client to the function, to ensure alignment in approach

Ensure alignment in approach and narrative with Group Communications
- Provide guidance and ensure adherence to Group Media Policies and other relevant policies.
- Conduct media training and communication best practice workshops lifting and standard of

communication across CIB.
- Update and manage the list of spokespeople in the assigned business units.
- Keep abreast of developments in internal policies and business ethics.
- Set the standard in Social Media communications for CIB
- Develop internal Social Media strategy for the business area in line with business strategy
- Develop, manage, and report on traditional & Social Media, providing insights to the business.

Responsibility for oversight and approval of all externally facing PR content
- Ensure that all communications material is archived and in a centrally accessible repository.

Outputs to deliver this accountability:

- Collaborate with business on strategic and operational imperatives within the relevant business units, to assist in achieving business objectives.
- Work with BU leadership teams to create communication strategies that drive business priorities.
- Use communication to help solve business problems.
- Anticipate future scenarios and be proactive in developing potential communication interventions.
- Manage conflicting and complementary expectations from different stakeholders to forge solutions

that are acceptable to all parties.

Accountability: Content Management
- Educate business leaders and colleagues in communications best practice and opportunities
- Oversee the output of materials where applicable
- Set the standard to ensure that all communication content is of consistently high standard.
