**DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMMES**

Parenting for Lifelong Health(PLH) is looking for a collaborative, resourceful, and socially committed individual to serve as its first Director of Programmes.

This is a remote-working position based in South Africa, although remote working from other locations in the Global South and/or hybrid working is negotiable.

**About the role**:
We are seeking a talented professional with expertise in the scale-up of behavioural change interventions and digitally enabled programmes in the Global South and experience managing multiple complex scaling projects, coordinating international partnerships, and building communities of practice. As a key member of PLH’s core team, the Director of Programmes will manage the delivery and reporting obligations of PLH’s portfolio of projects. You will contribute to and implement executive decisions regarding programme management and international partnerships within the PLH network. You will work closely with our executive team, core management, and project team leaders to unlock the full potential of the PLH, including our Parenting for Children in Crisis project and other project teams.

**Responsibilities**:

- Coordinate the PLH systems scaling programme focused on the scale-up of human-digital parenting interventions to reduce violence against children and improve child development and wellbeing in the Global South.
- Devise and implement a coordination strategy across PLH systems scaling projects to maximise efficiency and effectiveness, in line with PLH’s core principles.
- Represent PLH across our stakeholder network, including the PLH Global Consortium and Regional Centres of Excellence, Global Initiative to Support Parents, and other partners.
- Implement an iterative and responsive, programme-wide Agile management system to ensure efficient and coordinated delivery of PLH programmes across various sub-teams.
- Manage project teams, including employees and consultants engaged in supporting the scale-up of parenting solutions on national, regional, and global levels.
- Manage grants and services contracts and reporting.
- Champion Global South leadership within the PLH community.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the PLH Executive Team from time to time.

**Essential criteria**:

- Master's degree or equivalent qualification (e.g., Bachelors plus eight years’ experience) in public health, international development, child and family psychology, non-profit management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in international programme management preferably related to scaling behaviour change interventions and/or digitally enabled programmes on national or regional levels in the Global South.
- Demonstrable knowledge of the implementation, evaluation, and scale-up of evidence-based parenting, family, early childhood, and/or social behaviour change communication interventions in the Global South.
- Demonstrable experience working within an organisation committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable children, adolescents, and families in the Global South.
- Demonstrable experience working with international partners such as the UN on grants and institutional contract management.
- Proven management experience of complex multi-partner projects and/or programmes on an international level, including planning, delivering, and managing budgets.
- Proven leadership experience and experience working collaboratively as part of a team on strategic planning and decision-making to support project implementation.
- Strong communication, presentation, and writing skills, and experience sharing project outcomes effectively to governments, NGOs, international agencies, policymakers, and academic audiences.
- Demonstrable skills in taking initiative and using innovation in project management.
- Demonstrable experience with human resource management, including employees and independent contractors.
- Commitment to PLH's mission, core values, and organisational culture.
- English as a primary language or spoken with a high level of proficiency.

**Preferred criteria**:

- Demonstrable personal success working with early-stage organisations, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-partner team.
- High level of proficiency in at least one language other than English.
- Experience working with an Agile operational framework under Scrum methodology.

Starting salary negotiable depending on experience and location.

Start date: 15 July 2023 on a fixed-term contract of 12 months (possible permanent extension).
