**Senior Geologist**

**The Company**
Our client is one of the world’s largest producers and marketers of copper, with mining operations and development projects in key mining regions of Africa, Australia and America. They operate on a large-scale copper and cobalt deposits, both open pit and underground, with high-grade mineral reserves.

**The Role**
This position reports to the Lead Geologist and is accountable for the geological support and service functions aimed at improving the delivery of projects in the African region. The position will be based in Johannesburg South Africa, with regular travel to the DRC.

**Responsibilities**
- Develop detailed geological maps, cross-sections, and models to represent subsurface geology accurately. Analyze geological data using software tools and interpret findings to guide project decisions.
- The role is required to interface with other functional areas to ensure a complete understanding of the orebody and its constraints for mining and processing.
- Work with Metallurgists to develop geometallurgical models based on fundamental ore characteristics.
- Conduct field investigations, supervise drilling operations, oversee sample collection, and ensure adherence to health and safety protocols during field activities.
- Providing mentoring and support to mine geologists across company operations.
- Stay abreast of advancements in geological technology and methodologies. Incorporate innovative approaches to improve project efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist with investigation and implementation of new mining and exploration related technology across our operations.
- Effectively communicate to all levels of stakeholders.

**The Requirements**
- Tertiary Qualification in Geology, postgraduate studies, would be advantageous.
- 8+ years of experience in mine geology across base and precious metals.
- Experience within projects environment is highly preferred.
- Prior experience managing diverse teams.
- High level of proficiency in writing technical reports.
- Proficiency in geological software and modelling tools.
- Excellent communication skills for conveying complex geological concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to influence people across all levels of the business.
- English language skills (preferably bilingual French/English/Spanish)
