**Kumba Iron Ore**

We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects - exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Rosebank, Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.

**Job Description**:

- We are currently seeking to employ a Senior Geologist, Ore Control to join our Kumba Iron Ore family at our Corporate Office. This is a key role within the Geoscience Team where the incumbent will be responsible to:

- Support the creation, management, and improvement of quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with the required specifications.
- Assist in optimising ore extraction through technology and software.
- Develop and implement ore control database and software for daily blend schedule, management and reporting
- Develop and implement standards and reporting guidelines for ore control through benchmarking
- Support current and future VBOC initiatives within ore control environments
- Support the current reconciliation processes through engagements and optimisation of current practice.
- Documented standards, reporting guidelines for ore control processes.
- Ore control database developed with software to allow for daily blend scheduling, management and reporting.
- Technical support and guidance to operational teams.
- Support integration of Ore Control within Mine Technical services.
- Other requirements as assigned by your line Manager.

**This role is in the Geoscience Department at a Band 6 level reporting to the Principal, Mining Geology.**
- Qualifications
- Matric
- BSc (Hons) Geology as a minimum requirement
- Valid driver’s licence

**Experience**
- Minimum of 5-10 years’ geological experience preferably within mining geology
- Experience in ore control is preferred
- Experience in open-pit mining reconciliation is preferred
- Project Management experience is advantageous
