Our partner is seeking a Senior Specialist - Geometallurgy & Process Mineralogy to be part of their team.

Responsibilities:
  • Comprehend and fulfill responsibilities of legal appointment under Zambian Mining Regulations.

  • Supervise and run the mineralogy and geometallurgy laboratory.
  • Achieve and surpass key performance indicators (KPIs) consistently by offering insights and advice on plant feed characteristics and performance through analyzing modes of mineral losses.
  • Engage daily to monthly in processing plant operations, acting as technical support to operations staff to boost performance.
  • Oversee the Geometallurgical program focusing on ore quality, plant behavior, blending plans, and performance.
  • Work closely with Mine Engineering departments (Geology, Planning, Mining), Processing, and Environment to develop optimal strategies for metal production.
  • Coordinate the interaction between Processing and Mining Technical Services on ore quality, blending plans, and performance.
  • Establish a practical approach to Process Mineralogy to optimize metal production while upholding high concentrate quality.
  • Introduce innovative measures to enhance site mineralogy and geometallurgy programs.
  • Coordinate and supervise studies for potential ore deposits at Sentinel and Enterprise.
  • Ensure seamless integration and alignment of technical activities with Plant Metallurgists (Comminution & Flotation) and Operation teams.
Key Skills:
  • Operate in accordance with all relevant industry standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Leverage our partner's Group framework for Geometallurgy to assimilate key geometallurgical factors for predictable extraction.
  • Identify potential enhancements by examining mineralogical data trends.
  • Maintain a comprehensive and current database of all projects.
  • Independently pursue continuous improvement.
  • Enable technical collaborations between departments to ensure effective delivery of customer needs.
  • Regularly engage with the Perth Mining office.
  • Develop staff development plans, succession strategies, and training initiatives, emphasizing skills transfer and mentoring.
  • Facilitate data collection, storage, accessibility, distribution, and analysis.
  • Manage and diminish operational expenses by evaluating lab equipment and formulating justifications for capital projects.
  • Contribute to the annual Technical session budget.
  • Embrace our partner's organizational culture.
  • Execute any other tasks as directed by the Superintendent Technical or Process Management.
  • Direct involvement in mineral extraction/engineering technical positions, specifically in base metal grinding and flotation.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Metallurgist, Production Geologist, or in a corresponding leadership role in extensive, intricate mineral processing operations.
  • Significant background in Mineralogy and Geometallurgy.
  • A Post-Graduate Qualification in Extractive Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Geometallurgy, or Geology.
  • Qualify for membership of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) and to hold relevant legal appointments in line with the Mining Regulations of Zambia.
