**Position Description**

The Director People and Organization will oversee and direct the People and Organization function and your team consists of HRBP’s as well as other experts. The team is responsible for activities associated with organisational
- and talent development, compensation and benefits, competence development, employee relations, HR Services and ensuring the implementation of AB Volvo/Volvo Trucks and Volvo Group Southern Africa policies. The role will coordinate and drive harmonisation in joint company HR related issues.

You will ensure effective leadership, coordination, and general direction to reflect and promote the company’s mission, vision, aspirations, and values.

**Reporting**: The position reports to the Managing Director Volvo Trucks South Africa, or to the position that the company may appoint, who also is the President of the Volvo Group Southern Africa legal entity).

The role is a member of the Volvo Trucks Executive Leadership Team as well as Volvo Group Southern Africa country management team (CMT) in addition to being responsible for the People and Organization Country Committee in South Africa. The position works in close collaboration with Volvo Trucks International People and Culture Community.

The role is based at the Volvo Group Southern Africa Pty. headquarters, and will report directly to the Managing Director of Volvo Group Southern Africa.

**Job Objectives**
- Translate business strategy and Group People & Culture strategy into plans and activities that support delivery of business results and achievement of business goals.
- Build local Human Resource programs, processes, and policies, and secure the implementation across all businesses in the joint company.
- Develop effective Compensation & Benefits policies that are consistent with global policy and competitively meet the needs of the Organization and its country operations.
- Advice on all HR related strategies, policies and practises which support the achievement of local and country business objectives in line with the HR policy framework.
- Secure that the organization complies with local employment laws and legislations.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the team, including talent development, succession planning, leadership sourcing, performance management, compensation & benefits, strategic competence, learning & development, staffing & recruitment.
- Support change management, employee engagement, organizational and cultural development to improve business performance.
- Competence development including apprentice programs.
- Drive company culture in line with Volvo values. Act as Volvo culture ambassador and constantly communicate and demonstrate Volvo Values.
- Ensure HR service functions such as recruitment, employee administration, payroll, Health Safety, Environment and BBBEE compliance meet the Policy objectives of the Company and legislative compliance.
- Fully accept and demonstrate the complete range of managerial responsibilities and utilise appropriate tools like Performance Touchpoints and the Pulse survey tool and follow-up.

**Qualifications and Competencies**:

- Committed and driven team-player with strong negotiation
- and business oriented skills at executive level to collaborate with different business functions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders on different levels.
- Structured and result oriented with in-depth knowledge with a very good human understanding and ability to build strong teams and employee relations.
- Engage in an cross-functionally work leveraging the knowledge and support available in all areas of Volvo Group Southern Africa and external partners to ensure high levels of dialogue, exchange of information and coordination between all stakeholders.
- Contributes to Team, Department and Company effort by accomplishing related performance KPI’s andundertaking any requested job as needed.
- Degree/MBA in Human Resources.
