**Job Advert Summary**:
The Technical Underwriting Manager will contribute to the implementation of the personal lines strategy by providing personal lines technical underwriting support to branches and brokers
Technical Underwriting Support
Providing personal lines technical underwriting support by
making recommendations to the product and features team based on underwriting requirements, ensuring that all impacts have been carefully considered and analysed to best meets the business, broker and customer needs
assessing and underwriting referrals
monitoring adherence to the Personal Underwriting Mandates & Guidelines
assisting in complex personal lines queries
creating underwriting training manuals in either Word, Excel, Visio diagram or a combination of formats
facilitating underwriting training where required
placing reinsurance on the Hollard Insure FAC system
drafting policyholder specific endorsements
reviewing wordings and signing off from an underwriting perspective
Stakeholder Management
Take ownership of queries and offer solution to the various stakeholders
Maintain and enhance relationships with brokers and/or internal stakeholders
Project Delivery
Work closely with various project teams to ensure that the project deliverables are being met while proactively highlighting potential issues
Reporting on progress in relation to tasks and work stream against the project plan as well as manage and meet designed time scales
General Responsibilities
Ensure all documentation and audit trail of work done are stored in a central repository
Ensuring that issues are identified, tracked, reported on and where appropriate resolved in a timely manner
Meeting deadlines and work according to appropriate schedules
**Required Knowledge and Experience**:
Minimum 10 years’ working experience in personal lines non-life (short-term) insurance such as in underwriting and/or claims
Knowledge of S.A. Insurance market and competitors
Claims knowledge/experience will be an advantage
Excellent communication including verbal and writing skills
Excellent documentation skills
Accurate high quality work output and attention to detail
Aptitude and dedication to thrive in a dynamic and deadline oriented environment
Ability to work across business units with varying stakeholders
Knowledge of TCF principles & customer orientation
A team player
Innovative
Highly organized, with first class planning and delivery capabilities
Self-motivated, able to work on own initiative
Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Word. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel
High level of technical knowledge, including insurance principles and practice, and legal principles
