Wits is seeking to appoint an experienced Projects Coordinator in the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs, Division of Student Affairs. The role _of the Student Affairs Project Coordinator_ is integral to support the Division of Student Affairs and the Dean of Student Affairs’ efforts at aligning all the Units of Student Affairs to the objectives of the university with respect to student life, development, support and the student experience.

Reporting to the Dean of Student Affairs, and working closely with the Deputy Dean of Students Affairs, the position will suit a self-motivated and highly skilled individual with experience in working with students and student leaders, who has a deep appreciation for the dynamics of student politics and student affairs more broadly, and with strong project management and coordination skills. The successful applicant will actively engage in all aspects of student life, development and support, and must be able to work with and communicate with students, academics and administrators at all levels as (s)he will work across a number of institutional settings and will collaborate with various stakeholder groups and communities of practice.

**The Projects Coordinator will**:

1) Coordinate and manage key projects on behalf of the Dean and Deputy Dean of Student Affairs;

2) Project manage and coordinate the management and inter-dependent work of the Division of Student Affairs and its Units and associated committees, sub-committees, and ad-hoc working groups;
3) Coordinate co-curricular support work between the Division of Student Affairs, CLTD; Faculties, Schools and administrative departments within the university in support of the co-curricular, student support and student-at
- risk mandate of the Division of Student Affairs

4) Provide and implement a coherent, sound operations and project coordination and management system for the effective and efficient running of the Division of Student Affairs, and in support of ensuring that the Division fulfills its mandate;

5) Manages student relations management, queries and referral systems, and based on this also determines and interprets student service needs;
6) Provide and coordinate research information and briefing notes to support Student Affairs projects, activities and submissions;

7) Undertake secretariat and reporting activities as agreed with the Dean and Deputy Dean of Student Affairs;

**Requirements**:

- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in directly related or similar to the duties specified and/or Student Affairs and Services professional practice;
- A student-centered approach, a service orientation, and a problem-solving orientation;
- Excellent projects management and coordination skills and a deep appreciation for the student affairs context;
- Excellent written (including research and report-writing experience) and verbal communication skills, with a high level of proficiency in Office365 and/ or similar technologies
- Excellent presentation, facilitation, and inter-personal skills with a high degree of emotional intelligence and political savvy;
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently but within a team, and in a pressured high demands environment;
- Multilingualism will be an added advantage;
