One of South Africa's Banking Giants is looking for a Senior Credit Manager to evaluate and manage the intuitive credit and associated risks within an allocated portfolio.

**Purpose Statement**:

- To evaluate and manage the intuitive credit and associated risks within an allocated portfolio in a geographic region; effectively integrating and controlling the credit function by maintaining the quality of credit risks across the portfolio, minimizing the risk of loss through bad debts, while maximizing profits.
- To interact with other areas of the bank, acting as a catalyst in driving changed initiatives in ensuring compliance within agreed risk parameters as set out in the changed strategy.

**Key Tasks and Accountabilities**:
**Intuitive Credit and Portfolio management**
- Manage a credit portfolio as designated by the Provincial Credit Head and Head: Intuitive Credit.
- Work within the defined credit mandated amount as specified by Head: Intuitive Credit and Head: Credit.
- Implement the overall intuitive credit strategy in keeping with the banks defined appetite for risk.
- Responsible for high quality analysis and assessment across various market segments.
- Ensure efficient turn-around in assessments within agreed-to SLA’s to maintain a high level of customer experience.

**Stakeholder value**
- Build and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships relative to the region and portfolio, and specifically the Business Banking team, providing support and credit information to the Relationship Managers.
- Build, strengthen and leverage internal networks and relationships with senior bank stakeholders to optimize co-operation, in order to drive service excellence and manage risk.
- Optimize resources to deliver continuous excellence service beyond the expectations of the stakeholders.
- Break down barriers and develop influential relationships across team, functions and layers within the applicable segments.

**Risk management**:

- Evaluate and review the changing profile of the portfolio over time, to ensure that efficient and effective processes are followed across the value chain, with the desired level of control and governance.
- Manage the credit risks including direct decision making responsibilities within pre-defined mandate levels and active contribution to all credit granting functions within the bank.
- Prepare the “B Watchlist” to identify risk issues at an early stage where bad debts can be minimised.
- Accountable for intuitive credit risk management across the portfolio within the Credit Risk Framework;
- Timely identification and corrective action to minimise risk
- Monitor risk and pre-empt risk for the client, unit and the bank.
- Stay abreast with changes in the industry, legislation, etc.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce or Credit / Honours Degree in Commerce or Credit OR Bachelor's Degree in Finance | Business Management
- Certified Associate of the Institute of Bankers in South Africa (CAIB) qualification
- Finance | Business Management

**Knowledge**:
**Minimum**:

- Business acumen
- Risk management principles and processes
- Project management methods and practices
- Relationship building and management techniques
- Financial management
- Customer relationship management (CRM) principles and techniques
- Knowledge of competitor product offerings/ channels/ operational and marketing tactics.
- Legal entities (companies, close corporations, sole proprietorships etc.) in the commercial market and the legislative restrictions and requirements governing these from a financial services perspective.
- Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act (FAIS) and the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA).

**Ideal**:

- Products available and pricing structures
- A good knowledge of administration processes and procedures pertaining to Business Banking transactions
- Financial Modelling; financial analysis (evaluating and identifying trends), complex cash flow cycles (industry/ sector specific)

**Experience**:
**Minimum**:

- At least 8 -10 years banking experience, 5 of which in credit
- Credit Management experience across business and commercial markets in the intuitive space as well as the scored lending environment
- Working within the requirements of the National Credit Act and other relevant legislation

**Ideal**:

- Experience of managing a portfolio of business customers with a service and financial analysis focus.
