**Job Description**:

- As a Section Manager: PSM you will also manage the definition, development, and deployment of an integrated Process Safety Management (PSM) program including development of standards, procedures, and guidelines as well as key performance indicators.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Manage and/or facilitate Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) studies such as HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, etc. on existing, new, and modified processes and define effective risk management controls
- Lead process safety management assessments and reviews at Anglo American Platinum operations and project toll-gate reviews, detailed design reviews, and operational risk reviews (ORR) / management system reviews
- Ensure PSM improvement actions from Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), PSM compliance audits, and Tier I and 2 Process Safety Event (PSE) investigations are identified and tracked to timeous closure
- Provide expert process safety management advice to design, construction, and maintenance engineers and operating personnel
- Provide oversight and expert advice on process related change management requests
- Regularly consult with other experts, identify and share PSM best practices, monitor regulatory and industry developments, and mentor plant / PSM role-holders

**While t **his role is **based **at our Rosebank Corporate Office, at a Band 6 level reporting to the Manager: PSM. I **t will require extensive travel to interface with the site operations.**

**Qualifications**:

- An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent) in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Fire Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, or similar relevant technical discipline
- A postgraduate qualification (Masters / Doctoral degree or equivalent) in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Fire Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, or similar relevant technical discipline OR a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity would be advantageous.

**Experience**:

- Minimum 5 years’ experience in process safety management industry
- Expertise and proven track record developing Process Safety Management programs including conducting Process Hazard Analysis such as HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, LOPA, etc
- Expertise in fire and safety engineering standards such as NFPA, API, SANS, ANSI, ATEX, etc
- Track record leading ideas generation, translation of these into practical initiatives with demonstrated success in Process Safety Management in an operational context
- Track record of acting as a company-wide coach, advisor, and mentor in a technical discipline with change management expertise
- Track record of operational experience within a multi-operation mineral, petrochemical, chemical, manufacturing, or related industry
