What you will get to be part of
- Ensure that the operational aspects of payroll processing and associated activities, such as wage and salary disbursement, overpayment recovery, leave and benefit management, and reporting, are accurate, delivered in a timely manner, and compliant with applicable legislation.
- Prepare complex payroll and human resources information for data entry, verifying quality control and maintenance of records to ensure accuracy, service quality, and data integrity prior to data processing, e.g. preparation of journals and month-end payment schedules, etc.
- Assist the organization in meeting its taxation and other statutory and legislative obligations by processing and preparing tax returns, related reports, forms, and other documentation as requested.
- Payment and reconciliation of payroll taxes and Third Party Payments
- Reconciling GL accounts related to payroll
- Calculating annual leave and LSL accruals/provisions.
- Provide a responsive, accurate client advisory service on payroll matters, resolve challenging queries, and assist in identifying payroll errors and implementing corrective actions as needed to ensure employee payments are processed accurately and data integrity is maintained.
- Compiling and reporting on summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability and non-taxable wages
- Importing employee work hours
- Scheduling electronic payments
- Distributing pay slips
- Able to work on ad hoc financial and operational tasks as given by management
- Identify opportunities focused on process improvement, leveraging technology to improve reporting
- Role model best practice in risk culture in all our processes
**Profile**:
- A minimum of 3-years prior experience in a payroll role including reconciliations and preparations of journals
- Knowledge of relevant legislation i.e. Income Tax Act, UIF, BCEA, Collective Agreements, National Credit Act, POPIA, etc.
- Analytical, with a strong eye for detail
- Strong communication skills
- A collaborative working style to partner business stakeholders, cross-functional finance colleagues and management
- Effective time management, ability to meet deadlines and operate under time pressure in a dynamic environment
Experience that will help you succeed in the role
- Previous background as a payroll officer
- Tertiary education in Accounting or Human Resources
- Proficient in Excel and high attention to detail
