Van Assistant

To assist the driver with collections and deliveries, including related administrative functions. To take joint responsibility with the driver for loading accuracy.

**Key Job Functions**
- Assist with maintenance and cleanliness of vehicles:

- Clean vehicle interior (including load box) daily, clean vehicle exterior - minimum of once per week, or more frequently if required.
- Assist with maintenance checks, report problems to Dispatch Supervisor.
- Assist with accurate loading, offloading, collections and deliveries:

- Check stock loaded for each trip against invoices. Offload stock accurately, at the correct customer, as per the invoice.
- Ensure POD requirements met on delivery.
- Ensure preservation of cold chain over each trip where applicable.
- Assist driver with the completion / update of route sheet. Submit fully completed route sheets and matched POD’s to Dispatch Supervisor at the end of each trip.
- Assist with adherence to customer payment terms:

- Ensure that invoice payment terms are adhered to by customer.
- Get authorization from orders department for deviations, and note exceptions on invoices.
- Get instructions from Dispatch Supervisor where authorization not given.
- Assist driver with daily cash ups and de briefing.
- Verify and sign that cash up matches money collected from customers. NOTE: Driver and driver assistant will be responsible for shortfalls on cash-up, and disciplinary proceedings may follow.
- Effective communication with Dispatch Supervisor
- Assist by reporting delays, accidents or other traffic and transportation situations to Dispatch Supervisor with could result in delivery delays or non-delivery.
- Alert Dispatch Supervisor of absence from work, per company requirements.
- Contact Dispatch Supervisor for instructions immediately should any issue or query arise at the customer, that was not part of issued trip instructions e.g. returns / uplifts.

**Knowledge and Experience Required**
- Be able to read a map and be able to follow written and verbal geographic directions.
- Must have a reasonable knowledge of the allocated area / route.
- Must have grade 12

**Salary**: R4,500.00 - R5,400.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Linbro Park, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (preferred)
