**LOGISTICS DIRECTOR**

**MAIN PURPOSE**:
To provide strategic direction for the improvement of processes, efficiencies and deliverables of all supporting structures and teams, to provide unbeatable service to our customers and branches in order to achieve their goals.

To oversee the day-to-day operations of the company’s national logistics and distribution, to improve the relevant systems and processes and to ensure the various departments are well integrated and successfully supportive of each other

**Key Job Functions**:

- Make tactical decisions in the operations department in support of the company’s general strategic objectives going forward.
- Manage the development and continuous improvement of the company’s national logístical operational processes to adapt to increasing market demands and to lead the industry in logistic service delivery of electronic security equipment.
- Assist in the development of the strategic plan for all logístical activity warehousing operations.
- Manage all supply chain activities, considering capacity and planned objectives.
- Analyse reports and data to monitor performance and plan improvements.
- Plan, allocate and manage staff resources according to the strategic objectives and growth of the company.
- Allocate and manage staff resources according to changing needs.
- Accountable for the effective financial management of the warehouse team.
- Ensure effective internal communications both within the operations team and between the team and other departments.
- Strategic procurement and supply chain management enhancement.
- Warehouse asset management and control.
- Fleet control functions including maintenance, budget, management, efficiency, safety and telematics.
- Coordinate and monitor the functions of the warehouse in order to optimise the processes.

**Infrastructure**
- With the current growth of Regal Distributors, the incumbent is required to ascertain the gaps and needs of the company’s warehouse infrastructure and all departments falling within the ambit of the position
- The needs and recommendations are to be submitted to the COO and a business plan including costing and timelines will be agreed upon
- The business plan will include:

- 3-year plan for changes in logistics
- Automation of certain processes
- Business operational changes
- Warehouse process manual
- Warehouse design optimization plans
- The incumbent will implement and manage the plan and provide feedback monthly
- Identify long term and short-term business operational plans

**Warehousing and Logistics**
- Identify and deliver operational cost reduction and cost avoidance initiatives.
- Ensure all operations are carried out under the auspices of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Ensure all documentation is processed and completed in accordance with internal procedures and conforms to auditing criteria.
- Measure, report and improve upon all receiving, packing, binning, picking, checking and dispatch processes within the warehouse.
- Measure, report and improve on productivity in all above aspects for staff assessment, appraisal and rewards programs.

**Oversee the below by consolidating a report to be presented to COO**:

- Manage the company’s stock inventory, stock control, warehousing, distribution and flow of products.
- Monitor the quality, quantity, cost and efficiency of the movement and storage of products
- Ensure all receiving, stock control and dispatch departments are running at optimal performance levels and conforming to the operating procedures and processes
- Ensure all housekeeping and maintenance is carried out efficiently and timeously
- Approve all maintenance and sundry expenditure.
- Appoint and approve all service and sundry suppliers, managing supplier delivery performance and maintaining supplier contracts.
- Write off all stock items used for maintenance and purposes.
- Ensure all delivery vehicles are used to optimise customer service whilst maintaining optimum cost efficiency.
- Manage by exception to improve the performance of all processes.

**Quality, Health and Safety**
- Assist in the implementation and ensure staff adherence to Health, Safety, Environment and housekeeping principles.
- Assist in the implementation of appropriate steps to minimise threats to staff, property, equipment and inventory.

**Minimum Requirements**
- BCom Logistics/Transport/Supply Chain Management qualification
- Working experience with 3PL’s, Reverse Logistics, Couriers
- 10 - 15 years experience in a SME warehousing environment
- Must have EXCO participation experience
- Must be able to operate at a strategic level
- Management of a staff compliment of 80 - 120 people, people management skills not negotiable
- Proven track record in warehouse resource planning, layout and warehouse assessments for continuous improvement
