Hogan Lovells Global Business Services Centre in South Africa is looking for a Compliance Project Assistant. This is the ideal role for someone to kick of their career in CDD Compliance and assist the global team with a number of compliance administrative projects.

Purpose:
The purpose of the role is to provide administrative project support as it relates to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Client Due Diligence (CDD) obligations of the Compliance team of Hogan Lovells.

The role will entail a significant amount of data capturing as well as maintaining, reviewing and updating various client data on firm databases.

The Compliance Project Assistant will work closely with the Compliance Manager and Head of CDD and keep them updated on the progress of a project.

The Compliance Project Assistant will eventually be required to drive and assist with various AML and CDD projects. These projects will entail the interpretation of legislation and processing of data to ensure that AML regulations are adhered to.

The Compliance Project Assistant will engage with various global stakeholders to update them on project progress; work towards meeting deadlines; coordinate deliverables and seek clarification on deliverables or processes. The global stakeholders include the Compliance Managers (Johannesburg and Louisville); Head of CDD; COO - Americas; Assistant General Counsel London and various business services teams globally.

Key Performance Areas and Accountabilities:
Client Research:

- Liaise with legal staff, business services staff and research teams to obtain any CDD information or client data.
- Liaise with Hogan Lovells business services departments, notably the Finance, Research, Conflicts and also Personal Assistants.
- Collecting and validating client information.
- Assist in resolving queries and gathering data as it relates to team or department projects.

Reports and Database Administration:

- Creating AML and CDD project reports and presenting them to management and other high level stakeholders including the General Counsel’s office and COO - Americas.
- Creating other required reports and presentations.
- Retrieving and cataloging data.
- Maintaining databases/records/spreadsheets.

Advisory and Projects:

- Participate in administrative projects under the supervision of Senior Compliance Officers, Supervisors and Managers.
- Joining meetings and calls to discuss team or department projects. Participate in determining the most effective ways to see a project to completion.
- Participate and advise senior stakeholders on the progress of projects.
- Provide input to devise effective compliance controls and steps required to remedy any areas on non-compliance from a data or administrative point of view.
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements profile:
**Education**:

- Grade 12 or equivalent - Essential
- BCom, BA, LLB or equivalent (at least in final year of studies) - NQF Level 6/7 - Essential

Experience

No previous work experience required.

- After being briefed or trained, have the ability to work independently and without supervision
- Must be able to work concentrated for extensive periods of the day and complete repetitive tasks without any errors
- Must be able to communicate proficiently with global stakeholders, including colleagues based in international offices
- Must be able to work towards deadlines
- Must be able to maintain strict adherence to confidentiality policies
- Must have clear criminal and credit records
