Programme Lead

**Purpose of Role**:
To direct and oversee the Allan Gray Makers Start-up Academy which aims to ensure quality business start up support and skills training for artisan/technical entrepreneurs to start businesses in technical trades for sustained growth. While providing a tool box of support including needs-based business and entrepreneurship skills, mentorship, shared business services and spaces, access to networks, community support and markets, wellness support, and possible funding.
**Objectives of Role**:
**Makers Start-up Academy**
- Implementation of all Makers Start-up Academy programmatic elements including:
- Perform quarterly and annual programme retrospective, prioritization & plans.
- Develop relationship with greater economic and artisan entrepreneurial eco-system to allow greater access
to market for new ventures
- Benchmark Makers start-up Academy against local and international incubation programmes and instill
culture of constant learning and improvement.
- Ensure sustainable replicability of programme.
- Develop ongoing support structures for early-stage technical entrepreneurs
- Add to a knowledge resource hub that gathers and disseminates relevant information, thought leadership
- Establish partnerships and facilitate agreements with relevant stakeholders.
- Establish framework and ensure compliance with information protocols across all stakeholders.
**Stakeholder Relationship Management**
- Scoping of additional stakeholders and other institutional and implementation & facilitation partners for the programme and programme elements
- Build and maintain major stakeholder relationships of interest to the Makers Start-up Academy within the entrepreneurship Incubator/Accelerator sector, manage varying expectations and communicate effectively with all relevant institutional and individuals
- Conduct Ecosystem think tanks with major stakeholders to aid co-creation
- Communicate programme effectively to all stakeholders including wider public and media
- Build strong relationships with Makers Start-up Academy participants, understanding their context and requirements so as best to encourage and support their entrepreneurial journeys.
- Identify potential organisations and institutions that will add value to Makers Entrepreneurs.
- Maintain implementing partner/ facilitation organisations and service provider relationships, and
communication
- Build strong internal relationships with the Allan Gray Makers teams.
**Analysis & Reporting**
- Compile programme progress reports for the Makers Hub Manager at agreed intervals.
- Analysing information and data and compiling reports to the Makers Hub Manager on implementation, performance, and impact of Makers Start-up Academy.
- Perform quarterly and annual programme retrospective, prioritization & plans
**Annual Budgets/Financial Management**
- Financial engagement such as drafting implementation budgets, preparing cost estimates and recording of actual costs.
- Develop annual implementation plans
- Manage costs against approved budget
- Compile budget report-backs
**Team**
- Manage performance of programme officer.
- Manage first line disciplinary/ grievance issues
- Provide input and participates in the recruitment and selection of team members for Makers Start-up Academy
- Compile budget report-backs.
- Ensure adherence to all appropriate human resources policies and procedures.
- Lead the Program Officers in such that they can reach their full potential
- Conducts performance review of Program Officers and coaches them as required.
- Communicate with Program officer on ongoing basis
- Reinforce self-managed work team approach.
**Experience and Qualifications**:
**Minimum qualification and experience**
- 5 years relevant experience in similar environment with Accelerator or Incubator experience, and
programme design
- Experience within the entrepreneurship space and an in-depth knowledge of accelerators/incubators, startup trends and entrepreneurship education are advantageous.
