Counter Sales Representative

kOur client in Paarl are looking for a Counter Sales Representative.
**Mission of Role**
Counter sales representatives assist customers through the entire sales process, monitor inventory and request restock of products as needed. The role plays a critical role in building relationships and providing excellent customer service. You must have excellent communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills, which allow you to build relationships with customers The role will be responsible to assist with all aspects of counter selling, including but not limited to customer service, product selection, inventory management, pricing labels, etc. The counter sales representative is also responsible for providing excellent customer service by answering phone calls, making inquiries and responding promptly to requests. This position requires an individual who can work independently.
**Education & Experience**
- Minimum Grade 12
- 2-3 years of experience working as a Counter Sales Representative in the steel, motor or hardware industry.
- A professional telephone presence, with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills;
- Displays exceptional communication skills (written, verbal and presentation), to influence and convince both internal and external customers;
- Solid experience in opportunity qualification, pre-call planning, call control, account development, and time management.
- Demonstrated ability to convert prospects and close deals while maintaining established sales targets.
- Possess outstanding negotiation skills with good decision-making ability.
- Understanding of the full sales cycle and the ability to execute this cycle.
- Experience in recommending solutions to meet customer needs and in using CRM to manage the sales process.
- Self-motivated, with high energy and enthusiasm to succeed.
- An understanding of the construction and building industry will be advantageous.
- Fully Computer literate on MS Office and ERP packages like Sage, SAP, Syspro etc.
- Ability to work well as part of a bigger sales team but also able to deliver and work independently.

- Positive attitude and the ability not to personalise rejection when soliciting customers.
- Ability to persuade, negotiate and close deals with all levels and types of customers.
Key Performance Indicators
Sales:
- Welcome all walk-in customers and potential customers in a professional manner and servicing their inquiries and product need.
- Handling inbound, unsolicited prospect calls and converting them into sales.
- Ensure that all sales are completed in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of customer transactions, including receipt of payment for goods received from customers.
- Maintain inventory levels to ensure compliance with departmental standards.
- Impressive customer orientation by attending to customer requests as well as informing them of the company’s products and services.
- Collaborating with the marketing department to expand brand presence by implementing and supporting marketing campaigns.
- Display sound negotiation, influencing and sales techniques to close the deal.
- Effectively communicate with customers regarding terms and conditions, discounts and payment required.
**Administration**:
- Maintaining an accurate record of all leads, active and cold calling, customer accounts, and sales.
- Taking and processing orders in an accurate manner.
- Completing monthly reports and other required administrative duties on time.
- Attending Sales Meetings and giving feedback when required.
- Maintaining customer/client information in the database.
Special Requirements:
Overtime from time to time as needed
