Duties/Pligte
- Die onderrig van voor
- en nagraadse modules in Biochemie;

- Die werwing van, en bied studieleiding aan nagraadse studente in Biochemie;
- Vestiging van / leiding van n navorsingsgroep in n veld verwant aan een van die Departement se navorsingsfokusareas;
- Die werwing van navorsingsfondse;
- Aktiewe deelname aan akademies-toepaslike departementele en fakulteits-aktiwiteite, soos nodig.
- Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Biochemistry;
- Conducting research and publishing it in peer-reviewed journals;
- Recruiting and supervising postgraduate students in Biochemistry;
- Establishing / leading a research group in a field aligned to one of the research focus areas in the Department;
- Securing research funding;
- Actively participating in academically relevant departmental and faculty activities, as required.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
- 'n PhD in Biochemie (of na-verwante vakgebied toepaslik tot die aansoeker se navorsingsfokus);
Bereidwilligheid om by een of meer van bestaande departementele navorsingsgroepe in te skakel;
- Bewese mondelinge en skriftelike kommunikasievaardighede in Engels.

Vir aanstelling as **Lektor**:

- Bewese betrokkenheid in die onderrig van voorgraadse Biochemie modules op tersiêre vlak (vir minstens twee of meer jaar as onderrigsassistent);
- Publikasies in geakkrediteerde internasionale vaktydskrifte in die toepaslike navorsingsgebied, insluitend uitsette as eerste outeur;
- Bewese betrokkenheid by nagraadse studieleiding op BScHons
- en MSc-vlak.

Vir aanstelling as **Senior Lektor**:

- Bewese ervaring en rekord in die onderrig van voorgraadse Biochemie-modules op tersiêre vlak;
- Bewese volgehoue publikasie-uitset in geakkrediteerde internasionale vaktydskrifte, insluitend uitsette as senior outeur;
- Bewese suksesvolle nagraadse studieleiding (as hoofstudieleier) op minstens MSc-vlak;
- 'n NNS-gradering of n navorsingsprofiel wat 'n suksesvolle aansoek vir NNS-gradering moontlik sou maak;
- Rekord van aktiewe betrokkenheid in navorsing, soos bv. deur die lewering van bydraes by vakverwante konferensies of deelname aan wetenskaplike

vakverenigings.

Aansoekers wat genooi word vir n onderhoud moet 'n lesing aanbied oor hul onlangse navorsing ten einde hul kennis en kommunikasie-vaardighede te demonstreer._**
- Willingness to join one or more of the existing departmental research groups;
- Proven verbal and written communication skills in English.

For appointment as **Lecturer**:

- Proven involvement in teaching undergraduate Biochemistry topics at tertiary level (at least for two years or more as teaching assistant);
- Publications in accredited international journals in the relevant field, including outputs as first author;
- Proven involvement in postgraduate supervision at BSc Hons and MSc level.

For appointment as **Senior Lecturer**:

- Proven experience and track record of teaching undergraduate Biochemistry modules on tertiary level;
- Evidence of a sustained publication output in accredited international journals, including outputs as senior author;
- Proof of successful postgraduate supervision (as main supervisor) at least at MSc level;

- Postdoctoral or appropriate academic/industrial research experience;
- Good communication skills in Afrikaans or one of the other official South African languages;
- Proven experience of teaching of undergraduate and/or postgraduate Biochemistry topics (for Lecturer);
- Proven involvement in postgraduate supervision at PhD level (for Senior Lecturer);
- Proven success in obtaining external research and/or equipment funding (for Senior Lecturer);
- Experience in course development/renewal in Biochemistry topics (for Senior Lecturer).
