Specialist, New Products Controller

To ensure that all the necessary governance and risk assessments associated with the introduction of New and Amended Products and Services, are identified and addressed prior to execution for CIB (all BUs) cross all geographies (South Africa and Africa Regions). This role supports both the client and Group Africa Region New Products Committees for which are attended by Senior CIB Executives.

3. Maintain and further develop a thorough knowledge of the front to back operating models in CIB as well as the control environment to support effective decision making and risk management in the new products governance process.
4. Exhibits cross product expertise to perform comprehensive analysis of the impact of new and amended products and services on the current operating environment to ensure risk is appropriately addressed.
5. Able to clearly articulate and explain product or service to committee members.
6. Supports line manager in the management of the NPC committee meetings for all CIB business units (South Africa and Africa Regions). These are formal committee structures, chaired by the NPC Chair (CIB CFO or their alternate) and is attended by senior/executive representatives of the Bank. There are often detailed discussions and that can be very technical therefore organisational knowledge is required as well as background to the product offerings for each BUs.
7. Prepares minutes of the Committee meetings and performs detailed reviews of stakeholder minutes.

**Maintaining a strong control environment**
2. Effectively support the stakeholder requirements process and formal product sign-off ensuring transparency and clarity of governance status for alignment of all participants in the governance process.
4. Drive the business ownership of the post implementation review process whilst ensuring issues encountered are raised, reported on, monitored and subsequently addressed.
5. Ability to highlight control weaknesses and drive remedial action.
6. Identifies governance breaches and escalate via the Operational Incident process.
7. Escalates matters of urgency and/concern to line manager

**Ensures efficient and effective stakeholder management and relations**
1. Maintain clear communication channels with all stakeholders and business as well as the line manager to align expectations in terms of timelines and ensure full awareness at all times.
2. Proactively develop and manage relationships with the various key internal stakeholders and external stakeholders.
3. Hold/Facilitate stakeholder meetings with Business and the 16 risk and operational areas where required.
4. Ability to discuss products/services and highlight key requirements for go-live, influencing the actions to be followed and the resolution of issues. Challenges discussions where required and is credible.
5. Provides support to ensure successful and timely completion of internal and external audit engagements.
6. Liaises with other internal risk and governance forums to provide the necessary information.

**Driving process efficiencies and prioritisation**
1. Influence change by proactively driving continuous improvements to the NPC governance process and the operating environment.

**Provides useful management information & reporting**
1. Preparation of management information (MI) that provides concise and relevant feedback regarding governance processes and the approval process to key stakeholders and business.
2. Assists line manager in reviewing MI reports ensuring key information is highlighted, including challenges experienced. Product completion status to be provided with any identifiable trends.
3. Cross product expertise is required due to the various businesses in CIB for both South Africa and African Regions.
4. Assist line manager in preparing submissions for CIB, Africa Region and CIB Governance Committees.
6. Ensures all internal governance processes schedules and records are appropriately maintained
7. Able to compile reports and ad hoc presentations.
