Safety Officer

**Functions / Responsibilities**

**Health & Safety**
- Maintain and implement SHERQ system at the plant level, including but not limited to ISO 14001, ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001
- Do SHERQ internal audit and assist with an external audit performance
- Record SOP’s, APT’s and EM’s

**Compliance**
- Ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated
- Ensure that the Occupational Health and Safety Act is followed
- Ensure the Shops and Officer Act is followed
- Compile and record letters of legal appointment

**Management and Training**
- Manage and devise the agenda for, chair and formulate & distribute minutes for the Health & Safety committee meetings. (level 3 and 4)
- Management and execution of safety standards
- Assess plant personnel based on SOP’s for competency declaration
- Coordinate Real Tree functional/ generic training

**Requirements**:

- Matric or equivalent
- Safety related qualification (SAMTRAC) will be advantageous
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in similar role
- Good practical knowledge of Microsoft office
- In-depth understanding on the principles of risk Assessment
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001 will be advantageous
- COIDA and OHS Act knowledge
- SHEMS experience
- Knowledge of FPS standards
- A valid light vehicle driver’s license to travel to various regions.

**Experience**:

- Safety Officer: 2 years (required)
