**Key Responsibilities**
**Primary duties and responsibilities**:

- Create a culture of behaviour-based ownership of safety, health, environment and quality.
- Ensure the business is legally compliant with all health and safety legislation;
- Administer the Safety Health Environmental and Quality function to ensure that at all times the Company's Policy related to Safety, Environment and Quality is adhered to, that timeous corrective action is taken upon identification of non-compliance to systems, product or process, to maintain the integrity of the SHEQ Management System, and to ensure that all SHEQ standards are adhered to;
- Develop effective SHEQ risk management and drive continuous improvement towards Zero Harm;
- Ensure effective communication of relevant information to all stakeholders to support effective decision making for the business;
- Manage SHEQ team performance and budget;
- Ensure certification and effectiveness of SHEQ management systems (ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001);
- Ensure internal Safety, Quality and Environment work standards are maintained and aligned to customer's specifications to ensure sound customer relations;
- Conduct SHEQ incident investigations, root cause analysis and facilitation of learning;
- Monitor and improve effectiveness of SHEQ controls;
- Develop and plan SHEQ risk assessments;
- Willingness to perform regular Standby duties and overtime when required.

**Safety**
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Hygiene and Safety legislation and procedures and environment.
- Understand the business and relevant linkages of Occupational Hygiene and Safety management and environment;
- Report accurately and punctually on Occupation Hygiene and Safety performance and incidents and environment;
- Perform safety data analysis;
- Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes, identify trends and suggest improvement plans and handle worker's compensation claims;
- Develop written safe job procedures and safe operating procedures applicable to various activities for operations.

**Desired Experience & Qualification**

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Grade 12 or equivalent; and
- Diploma/Degree in Safety Management
- ISO qualifications

**Experience Required**
- 5 years in relevant SHEQ management role in a steelmaking environment; and
- Development and implementation of SHEQ systems to international standards including certification to ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 with an external audit authority.

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
