Purchasing Agent

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for sourcing, negotiating and purchasing materials, supplies and equipment from vendors. Work closely with internal departments to understand procurement needs and ensure timely delivery of goods while maintaining optimal inventory levels. Maintain strong relationships with vendors, continuously evaluate performance, and negotiate contracts.
**The role will have the following duties and responsibilities**:
- Evaluating suppliers by considering price, quality, availability, and other criteria
- Evaluate supplier quotes and negotiate pricing and contracts
- Review and analyze purchase requisitions to ensure appropriate sourcing
- Place orders for goods and services and track delivery dates
- Monitor inventory levels and initiate orders as needed to maintain optimal inventory levels
- Develop and implement purchasing policies and procedures to ensure compliance
- Evaluate supplier performance and make recommendations for improvement
- Manage and maintain purchasing databases and records
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends and market condition
- Interviewing and visiting suppliers facilities to learn about products, services, and pricing
- Preparing and processing purchase orders
- Reporting on the status of all open purchase orders daily
- Interacting with suppliers to schedule delivery times and resolve shipping errors
- Building and maintaining positive, long-term supplier relations
**Requirements**:
- Bcom in Supply Chain management or similar field.
- 2+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management
- Experience in ERP systems
- Negotiation skills
- Detail-oriented and analytical
- Decision-making skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and purchasing software
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
