An established packaging company in Pinetown has a vacancy for System support technician in their Systems department.

This role is responsible for maintaining computer systems, troubleshooting errors, maintaining internet connectivity, running diagnostic tests, maintaining servers, repairing computer hardware, and providing technical support. To monitor network performance, optimize server capacity, secure networks and data, cybersecurity of a company’s information and data.

**Duties include the following and is not limited to**:
1. Setting up and installing new hardware and software systems.

2. Diagnosing and troubleshooting computer, network, connectivity, and server issues.

3. Maintaining hardware, software, and security systems by conducting regular maintenance and updates.

4. Upgrading firmware, software, and outdated hardware systems.

5. Providing timely technical support to users and teach users how to utilize computers correctly

6. Conducting daily backup operations and implementing best practices for system security and data backups.

7. Performing diagnostic tests and repairs, as well as developing data archiving, backup, and retrieval procedures.

8. Manage security options and software in computers and networks to maintain privacy and protection from attacks

9. Installing and upgrading anti-virus software to ensure security at the user level.

10. Installing well-functioning LAN/WAN and other networks and manage components (servers, IPs etc.) (Switches, Routers, Firewalls, DHCP, TCP/IP, SNMP)

11. Establishing good relationships with all departments and colleagues.

12. Keep records of repairs and fixes for future reference

14. Basic Understanding of Various Types of Printers and components, Troubleshoot and fix basic issues to avoid downtime. Liaise with Service Providers for Repairs and call outs.

15. Printer Toner Meter Readings and Management.

16. Keeping abreast of the latest advancements in technology, protocols, and best practices.

17. Documenting network processes and layouts, as well as enhancing network security.

18. Sourcing the necessary hardware and software to implement the IT strategy.

19. Ensuring that no internal breaches or misuse of data take place.

20. Determining the cause of internal and external data breaches and instituting appropriate corrective action.

21. Presenting regular feedback reports on IT network security to management.

22. Training users on how to use new hardware or software, drafting SOP’s.

23. Install and Crimp Patch Panels and must understand A vs B cable Configuration. Straight Through vs Patch.

24. Install, Test and Crimp Wall Boxes and work with Rack Mount Rails and Cabinets.

25. Install, Troubleshoot and understand different wireless technologies, AP, WAP, WR, AC, N, G, WPAN and WLAN

26. Basic Software Development, create develop and deploy Software according to the SDLC.

27. Implement and troubleshoot File Sharing.

28. Understanding Cloud Technologies, Access and Implementation.

29. Able to troubleshoot various Network issues such as TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, SMTP, FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, ICMP, Leases, Port Configuration.

33. Active Directory Administration

34. Group Policy Administration.

35. Basic Powershell scripting

36. CCTV DVR, NVR Networking and Remote Setup

37. Basic Excel Macro troubleshooting

38. SYSPRO Reporting Services, Check Daily Reports and make required amendments.

39. SYSPRO Sales Order Maintenance

40. SYSPRO Quantity Breaks.

43. RM Comment Imports

44. Sales Order Un-allocation

45. Barcoding Troubleshooting

46. Biometric Access Control Management.

47. Electrical Backup troubleshooting, Recommend, Install, and deploy UPS, Inverters. Series vs Parallel configuration. V vs Amps

49. Microsoft 365 Registration

50. Server Room Control & Maintenance

**Qualification**
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in computer science, information technology, or similar.
- Certified Microsoft, CompTIA, or Cisco network professional preferred.
- At least two years' experience as an IT support technician.
- In-depth knowledge of network infrastructure, connectivity, computer hardware, software, and security.
- Active Directory and database management
- Good knowledge of networking protocols, such as TCP, IP, and OSI models.

- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
- Proficiency in computer operating systems, such as MS Windows, SQL.
- Exceptional working knowledge of computer systems, including networks, servers, and system maintenance.
