RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be responsible for:

- Overall management of the Athletics club/programme with regard to corporate governance, financial management, business management, and other operational and administrative responsibilities such as human resources, marketing, and project management;
- Operate and manage the club to optimise the use of the facilities and prioritise the participation of students in internal leagues, athletic meetings, the welfare of the club’s student-athletes and the sustainability of TuksSport as a whole;
- Facilitates and ensures that the Athletics club/programme’s high-performance programme is always positioned to guarantee optimal support to elite athletes and their coaches;
- Overall management of participation in leagues, varsity cup/sport and University Sport South Africa (USSA) programmes, and stakeholder relations management;
- Financial sustainability of the Athletics club/programme through seeking 3rd stream revenue to support all aspects of the club/programme.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

- Degree in Sport Management, Human Movement Science or a related field
- At least five years of experience in the following areas:

- Athletics programme management in a tertiary institution, national or provincial sport federation or similar and comparable
- Organisational management of tournaments, leagues and events.
- Project Management
- Financial Administration
- Administrative management

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

- Advanced knowledge of strategic and operational planning.
- Advanced knowledge of operational management.
- Advanced knowledge of financial administration and management.
- Advanced knowledge of human resource development and management.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written).
- Computer literacy in MS Office packages, G-mail.

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

- Honours degree in Sport Management, Human Movement Science or a related field.
- Certificate in Financial Management or Strategic Management or Marketing and Communication or Human Resource Management or Project Management.
- Two years of experience in the following areas:

- Compiling fundraising proposals and business plans
- Human resources management
- Developing comprehensive publicity
- Management of relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Code EB Driver’s license

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
