**Job Title**: Kitchen Shift Leader
**Job Summary**: The Kitchen Shift Leader is responsible for managing the daily operations of the kitchen, supervising staff, maintaining quality and safety standards, and fostering a motivated and productive team environment. This role supports the kitchen manager and contributes to achieving the restaurant’s financial and operational goals.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**1. Supervise Staff**
- Monitor staff performance and provide direction during shifts.
- Manage staff breaks and minimize overtime while maintaining productivity, especially during slow periods.
**2. Ensure Quality and Safety**
- Oversee food preparation to meet safety and quality standards.
- Ensure kitchen equipment is in good working condition and report malfunctions to management.
**3. Motivate Team Members**
- Train and develop new team members.
- Provide coaching and feedback to enhance team performance.
**4. Assist with Operational Tasks**
- Support the kitchen manager with inventory management, ordering, and special orders.
- Complete assigned tasks and maintain accurate reports.
**5. Maintain a Clean Environment**
- Ensure the kitchen is clean, organized, and well-maintained.
**6. Communicate Effectively**
- Relay concerns, suggestions, feedback, and ideas to the kitchen manager or director of food service.
**7. Additional Responsibilities**:
- Manage staff rotas and break allocations.
- Respond to customer feedback related to kitchen operations.
- Assist in achieving financial targets.
- Report and document maintenance issues.
- Record accidents, incidents, and serious food complaints as required.
