South Africa Mainstream Renewable Power Full time

**Key Responsibilities**
- Implement standards for Health, Safety and Environment, Quality Control and Compliance for all business processes.
- Develop market specific, within Mainstream’s global best practice, Quality, Environment, Health, Safety strategy and agenda for South Africa, either for development, construction or operational sites and community projects.
- Monitor and align South Africa and Africa sites against Mainstream’s Global SHEQ targets, also support any global SHEQ initiative, and development projects needs in new markets in Africa and Asia.
- Establish ESG best practices, including analysis, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of ESG performance of projects in construction, operations and community development while aligning procedures with global standards.
- Liaise with Global SHEQ colleagues, including other functional area managers to ensure that SHEQ plans and best practices are being shared and adopted.
- Participate as a key member of local leadership team, taking and active pragmatic role in driving compliance solutions and simplification through the business cycles.
- Implement ISO 14001, 45001 and 9001. certification for MAMSA and Mainstream Renewable Power South Africa
- Work with the Compliance Officer to develop, maintain and implement the Compliance framework
- Implement continuous improvement
- Compliance framework aligned with relevant statutory requirements
- Ensure compliance with shareholder, lender and DMRE requirements
- Manage ESG reporting requirements per the project shareholder and Mainstream requirements
- Implement systems to ensure board governance and compliance
- Ensure continuous improvement of Enterprise Risk Management System
- Carry out risk assessments and incident investigations of significant incidents which identify and take account of relevant hazards. Support business growth by leading risk mitigation and SHEQ productivity enhancements by producing a comprehensive risk register.
- Interface with external bodies such as government agencies to ensure legal/policy compliance and participate in any subsequent communication to stakeholders within the business
- Support management fulfil Mainstream’s “duty of care” obligations by reviewing and providing comments on Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMs) provided by vendors, contractors and other sources.
- Produce management SHEQ & ESG reports, newsletters and bulletins as required.
- Provide ESG necessary information and reporting to Mainstream Global SHEQ and Board in its behalf when required.
- Develop operations administration support standards.
**Key requirements for success in the role**

Education and Experience
- Degree or diploma in an environmental, health and safety and /or social discipline
Managing teams with proven ability to manage the interfaces with various stakeholders (Operations, Construction, Government agencies, Security and Community Relations disciplines).
- Experience measuring and reporting on social and environmental impacts of projects
Experience in implementation of ISO standards
- Experience in Health and Safety management in Renewable Energy projects will be advantageous
- Capable of managing SHEQ across multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Setup and roll out of SHEQ / ESG strategies.
- Robust project management skill set required including contract management, contract administration, scheduling, planning, budget preparation and control.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Should be capable of managing internal and external resources.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office to efficiently deliver on market SHEQ requirements, as well as other software platforms Mainstream may engage with like SharePoint.

- Fluent in English and South Africa languages (written and spoken); fluency in other languages is considered an advantage.
