A well known mine in the Brits area, is looking for a
**Safety Officer. **This position requires from the applicant to work underground and on surface.

**Requirements**:

- Blasting Certificate.
- Safety Management Diploma.
- Comsoc 1&2 or SAMTRAC.
- Minimum 5 years' working experience as a Safety Officer.
- Underground mining experience, preferably as a Shift Boss.
- All MQA Unit Standards for a fully qualified Health and Safety Officer working with combination of MHSA as well as OHSA.

**Responsibilities include, but not limited to***:

- Legal duties in terms of Reg 2.19.1 and 2.19.2 of the Minerals Act.
- Conduct workplace inspections and legal compliance audits.
- Compile daily and monthly Health & Safety Reports.
- Incidents and Accident Investigations.
- Risk Management.
- Emergency Preparedness and Management.
- Development and review of Safe Operating Procedures.
- Ensure all incidents and unsafe acts are reported.
- Provide on-the-job training.
- Assess and approve contractors' Safety Files in accordance with Contractor Management Requirements.
- Address non-conformances/compliances.
- Follow through on actions, closing out reports.
- Report and record keeping.
- Present a professional image of the SHERQ Department.
- Daily, weekly, monthly reports.
- Medical examinations, follow ups and addressing issues that may arise.
- PPE Control and management.
- Coordination of Health & Safety Reps functioning.
- Identification of training needs.
- Standby duties on rotational basis.
