**Main purpose**

Our client leaders in the telecommunication sector is looking for a Principle Specialist - Active Network Configuration & Support to design and correct implementation of the organizations active network, cost effective, best in breed technology and required network architecture facilitating client requests, ensuring that the company’s strategic goals and business objectives are met.

The role involves adhering to overall design (High and Low level) and correct implementation of active network equipment ensure all service requests are met via end-to-end network automation.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS & TASKS) KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

1. Active Network Technology and Design

Contributing to the collective input of the head office Teams responsible for Network build

**Measurements**
- Ensure Network Adheres to design guidelines
- Accountable for the design of the organization’s National Active Network always ensuring a state of art and cost-effective design
- Manage and approve network design changes.
- Train and upskill the build and provisioning Team
- Develop, monitor, and continuously improve the network design, functionality, and features
- Ensure service comply to product rules

Resource requirements
- Analyse network performance and advice on changes or upgrades required.
- Provide possible strategic solutions and innovations
- Organization’s short
- and long-term strategies to always be considered when suggesting network design and procedural changes
- Adhere to High level and Low-level Network documentation.
- Service Conformance Testing
- Service Certification testing
- Have working Knowledge of current and new Technology
- Lab POC testing
- Root Cause Analysis reports
- Element Software testing
- Working Knowledge of NMS systems
- Working knowledge of Multi Domain Orchestration
- Ensure Active Network is fit for purpose.
- Respond timeously to customer needs
- Provide reports

2. Active Network Technology Strategy
- Organization’s Active Network uses the latest technologies to enable the delivery of the latest Network Services trend and technical requirements
- Most cost effective
- Optimal design

- Complies to International standards
- Within CAPEX budget
- Service delivery KPI met.
- Fit for purpose

3. Active products feasibility
- Ensure that Network model provides for all products and different scenarios
- Ensure all new products and Customer solutions are feasible and can be supported by Network infrastructure.
- Facilitate Customer Interoperability testing

- Customer Orders can be provisioned
- Network resilience
- Data accuracy
- Monthly Reports available

4. Product Management
- Ensure Products are fit for purpose
- Ensure new product can be fully supported timeously
- Provide product and configuration training to junior staff
- Training and upskilling
- Ensure all product configuration is full documented.
- Ensure Network design adheres to agreed standards
- Ensure network is continually updated and running latest software releases.
- Provide feedback to staff and manage network performance

- Network supports product catalogue
- Ensure divisional KPIs can be met.
- Performance management and feedback sessions
- Training Sessions

5. Internal and External Client Relations
- Manage all new product requests timeously.
- Provide high level support to the Network Team
- Meet with clients periodically to discuss client specific requirements

- Time to Market
- Provide solutions on client network Design
- Advise on the Organization’s products and how best they will suite client’s requirements
- Provide input into the feasibility model

6. Miscellaneous
- Attend to any other relevant and reasonable tasks as may be required from time to time
- Provide inputs in the departmental Operational and CAPEX budgets
- Stand in for line manger when required

**Competencies and Minimum Requirements**:
**Knowledge, qualifications and experience**
- Grade 12
- National Diploma in Engineering or equivalent qualification
- 8 years’ experience in the telecoms industry
- In-depth Knowledge of Transmission Network
- In-depth Knowledge of Network NMS Systems.
- In-depth Knowledge of both optic fibre and wireless systems and its capabilities
- In-depth Knowledge of Packet Optical and DWDM equipment
- Must have in-depth understanding of active networks and the various layers.
- Knowledge on Automation
- Knowledge on SDN and NFV.
